Michael Teoli products
Born the child of a big band jazz drummer and the grandson of the founder and long-time concertmaster of a philharmonic orchestra, the deep love for a variety of musical styles flowed through the blood of Michael Teoli from birth. The passion behind his rock-infused orchestral compositions displays his wide breadth of skills and his ability to stray from the norm. Paired with his training at the Berklee College of Music, Michael offers a new, fresh dimension to music; this sets him apart from other film scorers and traditional composition artists.
Born in Methuen, Massachusetts, Michael spent his early years in Lawrence, MA before moving to Salem, New Hampshire in 1992. He left Salem in 2000 for Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. Michael graduated in 2004 as a voice principal, with a degree in Contemporary Writing and Production. In 2006, Michael took his Production Company, Orchestral Mayhem Productions out to Los Angeles, California.
In his years at Berklee, Michael dabbled in Film Scoring, Jingle Writing and Production, studying under acclaimed professors Michael Farquharson, Jon Aldrich, Donny Nolan and Kurt Biederwolf. Before his final year at Berklee, he moved to New York City to work on Howard Shore's Music Team for The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003). There he learned first-hand what went into the production of a score for a blockbuster feature film and the importance of a tight music team.
In late 2004, Teoli scored his first feature length film, After Roberto (2005). The full version of the film contained over 82 minutes of original music all composed, orchestrated, and produced by Teoli. Since then he has worked as a film composer on several films including The Tomorrow Tree (2005), Haunt (2005) (V) Womb for Rent (2006), and most recently 41 (2007). Michael has also achieved additional composer credits for the films Red Thread (2005), Faith (2006), Interrogation (2006/II), and Perfect Red (2006).
Due to his experience and professionalism, Michael has been invited to take on several leadership roles for other composers. Michael has acted as Music Team Production Manager and/or Head of Music preparation for such films as Red Thread (2005), Starry Night (2007), El cártel (2009), Storage (2007), South of Heaven (2008) and others.
Michael also acts as an assistant to Composer, Michael A. Levine ("Cold Case" (2003), "Close to Home" (2005), Adrift in Manhattan (2007)) at Hans Zimmer's facility, Remote Control. Teoli's recent projects for Levine include The Simpsons Movie (2007), "The Naked Brothers Band" (2007) and Columbus Day (2008).
A young, up-and-coming Film Composer, Teoli has quickly developed a reputation for both his epic orchestral sound as well as his intimate minimalistic scores. No matter what the style, you can count on beauty, passion and intensity that when heard can only be described as Michael Teoli. Michael resides in Burbank, California - June 2007.
Heads up his own Music Production Company, "Orchestral Mayhem Productions". The Orchestral Mayhem Music Team works not only on films where Teoli is the film's composer, but has worked on features for other composers as well, with Teoli acting as the Music Team Production Manager.
