Chennai, Oct 3: Arya's recently released Tamil romantic-comedy "Raja Rani" has turned out to be a blockbuster. The actor is delighted with the audience reaction, but says he never anticipated such a response.

"We were positive about the film right from the day one of shooting, but I didn't think it will turn out to be the biggest hit in my career. I'm extremely happy with the response to the film. I have been told that family audiences are watching it even on weekdays," Arya told Ians.

"Raja Rani", which released Sep 27, reportedly minted over Rs.15 crore in first four days in Tamil Nadu.

"I think one of the reasons of the success is the fact that we were always positive and we continue to be even today. We believed. »

John-Abhishek pairing uncertain for Vettai remake

17 April 2013 6:02 AM, PDT | BollywoodHungama | See recent BollywoodHungama news »

There continues to be uncertainty around John Abraham and Abhishek Bachchan pairing up for the Hindi remake of Vettai. Though there were recent reports indicating that the Dostana pair had been signed for the film which would be directed by Abbas-Mustan, the fact remains that talks haven't even reached the signing stage yet.

"In fact leave aside signing, it is just an intent of interest which has been shown", informs a source, "It is being wrongly portrayed that the team is all set to get going. There is nothing confirmed yet. Yes, Abbas-Mustan would be doing the film but for John and Abhishek to come together for the film, there are still formalities pending."

While it is a given that the duo would be first coming together for Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani's Dostana 2, an announcement around which is still awaited, it would be a while before remake Vettai comes under the radar. »

Dost To Become Bhai

8 April 2013 5:59 AM, PDT | Bollyspice | See recent Bollyspice news »

Remakes are a weekly announcement that we hear and while the film in question isn’t new, the change is. The Tamil film, Vettai that starred south actor Arya and our own R. Madhavan, was to be remade with Shahid Kapoor and Ali Zafar stepping into Arya and Madhavan’s roles and become director Linguswamy debut in Hindi. But the latest reports say the director baton has been passed onto director duo Abbas- Mastan by Utv Motion Pictures and the duo have zeroed in on Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham to play the leads.

“We will direct the film (Vettai). To suit the sensibilities of mass audience here, we have made certain changes” the duo has said to Times of India as they also confirmed the two actors have given the nod to the project with filming slated to begin early next year.

'Settai' - misses soul of original (Tamil Movie Review)

6 April 2013 12:16 AM, PDT | | See recent RealBollywood news »

Film: "Settai"; Cast: Arya, Premgi Amaren, Santhanam, Hansika Motwani, Anjali, Nassar, Ali, Neetu Chandra and Mano Bala; Director: R. Kannan; Rating: **1/2

"Settai", the Tamil remake of Hindu adult-comedy "Delhi Belly" has its moments of laughter to look forward to, but it definitely misses the soul of the original.

As much as I tried not to compare the film with its original, there are instances in the film where you automatically revisit the Hindi version. In an attempt to do justice to the original, "Settai" fails to innovate and gives audiences more reasons not to like it even when it desperately attempts to entertain in an exercise it partly succeeds in.

The story takes us through the escapades of three friends,. »

Casting biggest challenge in 'Settai': R. Kannan

24 March 2013 4:21 AM, PDT | | See recent RealBollywood news »

Chennai, March 24: What does Tamil director R. Kannan find most challenging in remakes? It's casting, he says as he anxiously awaits the release of his upcoming Tamil comedy "Settai" -- a remake of Hindi adult comedy "Delhi Belly".

"This is not the first time when I have faced this situation. Even when I was remaking 'Jab We Met' in Tamil, I spent so much time zeroing in on the cast," Kannan told Ians.

"However, casting for 'Settai' was most challenging because initially all the actors were sceptical how would I remake the film for Tamil audience," he added.

"When I met Arya to discuss the idea of the film, he was taken aback that. »
