Milena Govich is a director, actress, and musician. As a director, she was recently selected for AFI's prestigious Directing Workshop For Women under the mentorship of Paul Feig. Milena made her first official foray into directing with the short film, Temporary, which premiered at the 2017 San Francisco Independent Film Festival. She has also mentored with over a dozen established film and television directors.
As an actress, Milena first gained national attention on television in CBS's Love Monkey, then as the prostitute/con-artist Candy on three seasons of Rescue Me. She also starred in the Dick Wolf series Conviction which led to her role as the first and only female detective on the Emmy winning series, Law & Order. She has been featured or recurred on numerous other television shows: K-Ville (FOX); The Defenders (CBS); Make It or Break It (ABC Family); and as Lori Stevens on the MTV drama, Finding Carter. Milena has also appeared in several movies, including Sordid Things, A Novel Romance, starring opposite Steve Guttenberg, Pass the Light, Lucky N#mber, starring opposite Method Man, and the upcoming feature, Closure.
A native of Norman, Oklahoma, Milena was the valedictorian of her high school class before she completed a double major in vocal performance and pre-med at the University of Central Oklahoma, also graduating valedictorian. Soon after, she moved to New York and appeared on Broadway in the musical revival of Cabaret at Studio 54. She began in the role of Lulu, featuring her singing, dancing, and playing violin, and was the understudy and eventual replacement for the lead role, Sally Bowles. Milena also performed on Broadway in the musical revival of The Boys from Syracuse and in the musical Good Vibrations. She starred as Millie in the first regional production of Thoroughly Modern Millie, and starred in the title role of Sweet Charity at The Lyric Theatre.
