- French chef creator of many iconic recipes , author, he was named in 2011 Chef of the century by the Culinary Institute of America.

- At his funeral at the Lyon cathedral, there were 1500 chefs in white blouses.
- His widow Raymonde Duvert died in Lyon on 13 June 2019. Their only child Françoise is married with the pastry chef and chocolate maker Jean-Jacques Bernachon.
- Paul Bocuse had Jerome Bocuse out of wedlock with Raymone Carlut. He is thus the half-brother of Françoise.
- Born on exactly the same date as Leslie Nielsen (of "Police Squad" fame).
