Promising First Trailer for Matthew Perry’s new show, Go On

15 May 2012 10:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

After getting two great first clips at the weekend from Matthew Perry’s upcoming NBC comedy, Go On, along with a nice little interview with Perry himself, the network has now debuted the first trailer, and it’s pretty excellent.

Perry is his usual brilliant and talented self that we all know and love, and though his last two TV programmes since Friends have both been cancelled – Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip was one of the best programmes we’ve seen in recent years, and definitely didn’t deserve to be cancelled after just one season – here’s to hoping that Go On will live up to its name and continue on for seasons to come.

NBC have already ordered a full first season for the show after its pilot filmed earlier this year, and have scheduled the season to start airing this autumn on Tuesdays at 9 in the States. »

Trailers and Clips for a Ton of New Shows on NBC

14 May 2012 3:00 PM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

NBC has released a bunch of trailers and clips for a new collection of TV series that they have been developing. We've got stuff from 1600 Penn, Infamous, Save MeNext Caller, Do No HarmThe New Normal, Guys With Kids, and Go On. It will be interesting to what shows make it and what shows end up on the chopping block. Check out the trailers and clips and let us know which ones look good to you!

1600 Penn:

“1600 Penn” — The Gilchrists are just the average American family dealing with all the everyday issues – like a grown kid who’s forced to move back home, children who are smarter than their teachers and a stepmom (Jenna Elfman, “Dharma and Greg”) desperately trying to win over the kids. They’re loving, fun and a little crazy. In other words, just like everybody else. With one exception: they live in a very special house. »

'Go On': Matthew Perry tries to make grieving funny in NBC's new comedy

14 May 2012 12:40 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

"Go On" brings Matthew Perry back to NBC for the first time in five-plus years, and while the new show is an ensemble piece too, it's pretty far removed from "Friends."

Perry plays Ryan King, a glib sports-radio host who's been avoiding dealing with his wife's death in a car accident. He reluctantly starts attending group therapy sessions, and then starts taking them over from not-necessarily-qualified group leader Lauren (Laura Benanti, who was hands down the best thing about "The Playboy Club" this season).

The show's cast also includes Allison Miller ("Terra Nova"), Tyler James Williams ("Everybody Hates Chris"), Julie White ("Transformers"), Bill Cobbs, Suzy Nakamura and Khary Payton. You'll glimpse John Cho in the trailer too, but he's not listed as a series regular. "Friends" writer-producer Scott Silveri created "Go On," which will air on Tuesdays in the fall.

Now that NBC's 2012-2013 lineup and schedule is set, the network has released trailers for some of its upcoming new series.

From a (presumably failed) adoption attempt in the trailer for Ryan Murphy's "The New Normal" to Matthew Perry's character's effort to have everyone in his grief group to share their sob stories in five seconds in "Go On," each trailer hints that the 2012-2013 will be a unique season for NBC.

Check out the trailers for "Go On," "The New Normal" and more below:

'Go On': Can Matthew Perry bring back must-see TV for NBC?

13 May 2012 2:45 PM, PDT | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

In "Go On," Matthew Perry plays a quick-talking sportscaster taking time off from work after losing his wife in a car accident. Apparently the comedy part comes in when Perry is pushed to seek counseling and ends up shaking up a support group for the recently widowed with his biting sarcasm.

The show, from executive producer Scott Silveri ("Friends"), is Perry's latest attempt at making a comedy comeback. Last season's ABC comedy, "Mr. Sunshine," ran for just three months in spring 2011 as a midseason replacement before it was scrapped. While critically acclaimed, Perry's "Studio 60 on the Sunset Stri," was no match for "30 Rock" in its own fledgling season and was canceled despite five Emmy nominations.

"Go On" co-stars Laura Benanti ("The Playboy Club"), Julie White ("Transformers"), Suzy Nakamura ("Dodgeball"), Khary Payton ("General Hospital") and Allison Miller ("Terra Nova"). It will air Tuesday nights at 9 p.m. Et starting in the fall. »

NBC's 2012-2013 Schedule: 'Community' Moves To Fridays, Plus Preview New Shows

13 May 2012 12:42 PM, PDT | Huffington Post | See recent Huffington Post news »

In advance of their official Upfronts presentation on Monday, NBC jumped the gun to be the first network to unveil their complete 2012-2013 schedule on Sunday.

The biggest story? "Community" is moving to Fridays, along with sophomore sitcom "Whitney," which will kick off that rather random new night of programming.

"Smash" is also being bumped -- all the way to midseason -- to make way for the premiere of "Revolution," a new thriller from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, which will air after "The Voice" on Mondays. And yes, that means "The Voice" will be back in the fall, giving it two cycles a year, as predicted.

NBC will also try their hand at airing comedies on Tuesday nights, with Matthew Perry's "Go On" and Ryan Murphy's "Th New Normal" getting paired together.

Also being saved for midseason are new sitcoms "Save Me," "1600 Penn" and "Next Caller," and new dramas "Do No Harm, »

TV News: NBC Fall Schedule Includes ‘The Voice,’ Six New Shows, ‘Community’ on Fridays

13 May 2012 11:36 AM, PDT | HollywoodChicago.com | See recent HollywoodChicago.com news »

Chicago – NBC revealed their Fall schedule today and there were multiple surprises including comedies moving to Tuesday and Friday nights (we were wondering where all of the sitcoms would go) and a Fall cycle of the hit singing show “The Voice.” Other major news is that “Smash” is being held for mid-season. The network also revealed that six new shows — two dramas, four comedies — will premiere in the Fall.

The big news for comedy fans is that Thursdays have been tinkered with again as the final season of “30 Rock” will kick off the night at 7pm Cst, followed by “Up All Night,” “The Office,” and “Parks and Recreation.” In the 9pm Cst timeslot that was the kiss of death last season with “Prime Suspect,” “The Firm,” and “Awake,” the network has given up and will air the low-rated but inexpensive “Rock Center with Brian Williams.”

Terra Nova Season 2 Extinct?

28 March 2012 2:04 PM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

Despite Fox’s best efforts, it is looking increasingly unlikely Terra Nova will find a new home for its potential second season now that negotiations with Netflix have broken down. I had very strong feeling things would turn out this way. Talks have been going on for two weeks and no deal was made. Terra Nova is just too expensive a show to justify on a big network like Fox, let alone a small streaming service like Netflix. I think it’s time we said our goodbyes to Terra Nova.

Unfortunately, as Deadline pointed out, Fox hasn’t come to terms with Terra Nova’s demise just yet as it continues its search for a new network to resurrect the series. The chances are worse than slim and I think it is time Fox realized this. I don’t hate Terra Nova. It had a lot of potential that was squandered, »
