Angela Murphy was born in Chicago, IL. The oldest of four daughters of Frank Murphy, a Realtor, and Irish born mother, Rita (O'Brien) Murphy. Creativity was encouraged in their family, Frank was an artist and musician. Rita was involved in theater in England before moving to America. Angela made her first film with a Super8 camera when she was nine years old, engaging the neighbor kids as her actors. She loved organizing live performances in their backyard, with the support of her parents. Through school she excelled in many different visual and performing art forms. In college she was an inter-disciplinary arts major and studied theater, film, dance, visual arts, and writing.
Angela is an award-winning filmmaker with over twenty-five years experience in the film, video theater and television industries after earning a degree from Northwestern University. She was the Co-Founder of The Practical Theater Co. in Chicago, worked in Los Angeles for 12 years and then moved to Northern CA where she co-founded Petaluma Pictures.
Highlights of her career include President of Women in Film - Chicago, Producer for documentary television programs created for A&E, Discovery, NBC affiliates and Spelling Entertainment. She was the Media Director at the Agape International Spiritual Center and at the Institute of Noetic Sciences.
Angela was the Producer for the award-winning feature documentary film with Deepak Chopra, "Death Makes Life Possible."
