Billie Jo Spears was born on January 14, 1938 in Beaumont, Texas, USA. She was married to Jones and Pierce. She died on December 14, 2011 in Vidor, Texas.

She moved to Nashville, Tennessee in 1964 and signed with United Artists Record Company. She went to Capitol Records from 1966 to 1972. She would later record for independent record labels from 1972 to 1974. She returned in 1974 to United Artists to work with Larry Butler.
She married several times. She is survived by her three sons, Tim Pierce, Kevin and Ronnie Jones; five brothers and one sister, Betty Love, Edward Spears, Leroy Spears, Jack Spears, Bennie Spears and Hubert Moore; five grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
She played guitar with the western swing band, the Light Crust Doughboys.
Daughter of her father, a truck driver, and her mother, a shipyard worker, in Beaumont, Texas. She graduated from high school and worked as a waitress and secretary.
She was voted "Most Promising Female Vocalist" by the Academy of Country Music in 1976.
