Possession Takes Over Two New Cast Members

29 September 2010 | Horror Asylum | See recent Horror Asylum news »

'The Blair Witch Project' seems like such a long time ago for co-director Eduardo Sanchez. Can he ever get back to such horror heights? Possibly by putting 'The Blair Witch Project 3' into development he may get back on track, in the meantime however he is dealing with 'The Possession'. The new supernatural tale that he co-wrote with Jamie Nash is currently in pre-production and he has just nabbed himself two new cast members in the form of actors Johnny Lewis and Alexandra Holden (below). 'Possession explores the thin line between demonic possession and psychosis; it starts off as a simple horror film about things that go bump in the night but slowly turns into a thriller about the evil power that exists inside one troubled young woman. The film centers on a young newlywed couple that falls prey to a demonic spirit. ' »

'Blair Witch' Director Returns for 'The Possession'

13 August 2010 8:33 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

I wanted to put the cap on Pov news this week with Chronicle, but when it comes to a project being directed by Eduardo Sanchez, I think I can make room for one more. The guy hasn't delivered one widely successful film since The Blair Witch Project back in 1999, but that one alone makes any other project he gets his hands on instantly intriguing and that's why I'll be keeping a close eye on Possession. According to Variety, that'll be Sanchez's next venture behind the lens and it actually doesn't stray too far from the concept that brought him all the notoriety to begin with.

Sanchez co-wrote the script with Jamie Nash and it's about "the thin line between demonic possession and psychosis, starts off as a simple horror film about things that go bump in the night but slowly turns into a thriller about the evil power that exists inside one troubled young woman. »

Eduardo Sanchez to Tackle Possession

12 August 2010 8:00 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Haxan Films, the production company behind The Blair Witch Project, are set to team up with Amber Entertainment to co-produce a new jittery-cam horror film, The Possession.

It’s being reported by Variety that Eduardo Sanchez, co-director of The Blair Witch Project, will direct from a script he penned alongside Jamie Nash.

Synopsis: The Possession centers on a young woman’s descent into evil after she moves back into a long-deserted family home.

The synopsis makes it sound similar in vein to last year’s breakout success, Paranormal Activity. Here’s hoping Sanchez will be add his own spin to the story to make it feel original, and not a complete re-tread.

Filming will take place this October in Maryland.

Haxan Films are currently handling casting, inviting hopefuls to submit video auditions. »

Eduardo Sanchez Tracks Down Posession

11 August 2010 4:00 PM, PDT | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

Since co-writers/directors Eduardo Sanchez and Daniel Myrick rose to instant indie fame with massive smash horror The Blair Witch Project back in 1999, it’s seemed like the filmmakers have lived in the film’s shadow, never quite making something as compelling. Sanchez is hoping he can break that curse with his latest project, horror thriller Possession.According to Variety, the new film will tread the line between demonic possession and pure psychosis, with a tale of scary things happening in a small town tied to the terrible power contained within one young woman.Sanchez penned the script with regular collaborator Jamie Nash and hopes to have the thing shooting in Maryland (his familiar stomping grounds) this October.Despite the PR burst that was Blair Witch, Sanchez hasn’t exactly made a load of compelling follow-ups. Several of the films he’s directed since have gone straight to video, with »
