Younger sister of Tony-nominated actor Hunter Foster.

In 2002, she won a Tony award for Best Actress in a Musical for her role as Millie Dillmount in "Thoroughly Modern Millie." She was nominated again in 2005 in the same category for playing Jo March in "Little Women."

She had attended Troy High School in Troy Michigan and, in her senior year, did correspondence courses through the high school because she was on the road acting in the "Will Rogers Follies".

Nominated five times for the Tony Award (each time in the Outstanding Actress in a Musical category), as of June 2011, she has won twice; the first win was for the role of Millie Dillmount in "Thoroughly Modern Millie" in 2002, and the second was as Reno Sweeney in "Anything Goes" in 2011. The other nominations were for the roles of Jo March in "Little Women" (2005); Janet Van De Graaff in "The Drowsy Chaperone" (2006); and Princess Fiona in "Shrek The Musical" (2009).

Growing up, Foster had a pillowcase which she carried around and slept with.

In early 2006, she became engaged to longtime boyfriend, actor Christian Borle. They married in September of that year but have since divorced.

Attended the same high school as her fellow Broadway actors, Emily Hsu and Donna McKechnie.

Attended Troy High School, in Troy, Michigan. She left before graduation, but earned her diploma via correspondence classes.

Sister-in-law of Jennifer Cody.

Nominated for the 2009 Tony Award for Best Performance for a Leading Actress in a Musical for "Shrek The Musical.".

Where Are They Now

(December 2006) Starring in "The Drowsy Chaperone". She took a few weeks off in the Fall of 2006, for her wedding and honeymoon, but resumed playing the role shortly after.

(March 2005) Starring as "Jo March" in the new Broadway musical "Little Women".

(August 2007) Appearing as "Inga" in Seattle previews of Mel Brooks's "Young Frankenstein-The Musical".

(December 2008) Playing Princess Fiona in Shrek the Musical on Broadway
