Baskets

FX has renewed the Zach Galifianakis-led comedy series "Baskets" for a second season to premiere in early 2017. The series has "The Hangover" star playing both a local rodeo clown and his twin brother - Chip & Dale Baskets.

The renewal comes halfway through the comedy's first run which has been the most-watched basic cable primetime comedy of the season - averaging 1.5 million total viewers and 944,000 adults 18-49 in Live+7 through its first three episodes. [Source: Variety]

Legion

Amber Midthunder ("Banshee") is set to co-star opposite Dan Stevens and Aubrey Plaza in FX's "X-Men"-themed spin-off series "Legion" which "Fargo" creator Noah Hawley, Marvel TV and FX Productions are backing.

Stevens plays a mentally disturbed man who comes to realise the voices and visions in his head might be real. Midthunder will play Kerry, a woman of action with a childlike sense of wonder who has lived a sheltered, but never dull life. »

"The Boy" Helmer To Visit "Candle Cove"

Following on from his success with the horror film "The Boy," filmmaker Craig William Macneill is set to direct all six episodes of Syfy's new six-part anthology series "Channel Zero: Candle Cove" which is slated to premiere in October.

Based on an online tale by Kris Straub, the story centers on one man's obsessive recollections of a mysterious children's television program from the 1980s – and his ever-growing suspicions about the role it might have played in a series of nightmarish and deadly events from his childhood.

Nick Antosca ("Hannibal," "Friday the 13th") wrote the pilot and will serve as executive producer alongside Max Landis ("Chronicle," "American Ultra").

The hiring follows in a recent trend by Syfy to get acclaimed indie filmmakers to direct pilots for their series. Others have included Oscar nominee Juan Carlos Fresnadillo for the upcoming "Prototype," Mike Cahill who did "The Magicians" pilot, and Alex Pastor who »

Affleck & Damon's "Incorporated" Greenlit

Syfy has handed out a thirteen-episode series order for the Ben Affleck and Matt Damon produced futuristic drama series "Incorporated" which will premiere this Fall.

The action is set in a near future where corporations have unlimited power. Sean Teale ("Reign") will star in the story of a young executive who conceals his true identity to infiltrate a very dangerous corporate world to save the woman he loves.

He soon learns he's not the only one whose secrets may have deadly consequences. Eddie Ramos, Dennis Haysbert and Julia Ormond co-star in the project which Universal Cable Productions and CBS Television Studios will produce.

David and Alex Pastor ("Selfless") penned and directs the pilot, while Ted Humphrey ("The Good Wife") will serve as executive producer and showrunner. Damon, Affleck and Jennifer Todd will also executive produce.

Syfy has greenlit the futuristic thriller “Incorporated,” which hails from exec producers Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, Variety has learned. The series landed a 13-episode order, which is slated to premiere this fall.

Produced by Damon and Affleck’s Pearl Street Films along with CBS Television Studios and Syfy’s sister studio Universal Cable Productions, “Incorporated” was created by David and Alex Pastor, who wrote and directed the pilot, which was picked up last April.

Set in a near future where corporates have unlimited power, “Incorporated” revolves around Ben Larson (played by Sean Teale, “Reign”), a young executive who conceals his true identity to infiltrate a very dangerous corporate world to save the woman he loves — but he’ll soon learn that he’s not the only one whose secrets may have deadly consequences.

Teale will co-star with Eddie Ramos (“Teen Wolf”), Dennis Haysbert (“24”) and Julia Ormond (“Mad Men”).
