'Smallville' star joins Syfy, Don Johnson tastes 'South Discomfort'

Syfy wants former "Smallville" star Michael Rosenbaum, but not as Lex Luthor.

The network has ordered the actor's comedy pilot that he created and will co-star in with Jonathan Silverman, it was announced Friday (March 26).

The single-camera half hour comedy centers on two friends who are has-been actors from a sci-fi show that's no longer on the air. Their life without that fame has much to be desired, and they need to find out how to live like successfully like regular Joes.

Don Johnson joins ABC pilot Don Johnson has signed on to star in ABC's comedy pilot Southern Discomfort, starring opposite Steve Talley who also was set in a lead role in the project.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Southern Discomfort centers on a tough, hard-core conservative Texan (Johnson) whose life is turned upside down when his grown kids move back in.

Talley will play the eldest son, a slacker who kissed off a baseball scholarship to pursue writing. »

Don Johnson is in negotiations to topline ABC's comedy pilot "Southern Discomfort."

Additionally, Steve Talley has landed a lead role in the project.

"Discomfort" centers on a tough, hard-core conservative Texan (Johnson) whose life is turned upside down when his grown kids move back in.

Talley, repped by Gersh and Lighthouse, will play the eldest son, a slacker who kissed off a baseball scholarship to pursue writing.

It marks the return of another veteran series star to the network fold this pilot season. Johnson, who toplined the Eye's long-running "Nash Bridges," joins longtime "Magnum P.I." star Tom Selleck, who has signed as the lead in CBS' untitled Burgess/Green drama pilot.

Johnson, repped by Gersh and Untitled, recently appeared in the feature "When in Rome."
