‘Faith #12′ Review (Valiant)

16 June 2017 12:51 PM, PDT | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Written by Jody Houser | Art by Joe Eisma | Published by Valiant

Faith has been gaining notoriety both outside and inside of her book so it was only a matter of time before she would be facing off against her first evil superhero team. Faithless, a group put together by Chris Chriswell, has come together over their shared hatred of Faith and desire to finally defeat her. Over the last few issues, they have successfully worked together to frame Faith for murder and take her captor. The only thing standing in their way of victory is themselves.

It does seem premature for this story arc. Most of these villains have not fully established themselves yet, and someone like Darkstar was just recently introduced in the previous story arc. Usually, it takes a number of failures before supervillains give up and try to go the team route. Since its inception Faith has »

Baby Driver Preview Goes Beat by Beat Through the Banging Soundtrack

10 June 2017 10:01 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

With the June 28 release date just a few weeks away, Sony Pictures has debuted a new preview for Baby Driver, which features the cast and writer-director Edgar Wright discussing how important the soundtrack truly is to this film. While the music is certainly an integral component to any movie, it was quite different with Baby Driver, as star Jon Hamm reveals that when he received the script, it also came with a thumb drive full of all the music that will be featured in the movie. The script itself was even written to all of these songs, in order, according to the filmmaker.

Sony Pictures India debuted this preview on YouTube, which features stars such as Kevin Spacey and Jamie Foxx discussing how the music complements the story. Edgar Wright also states that this story is about a young driver who cannot exist without music, while Ansel Elgort reveals that »

Grab Some Headphones and Jam Out to Baby Driver's Phenomenal Soundtrack

8 June 2017 10:20 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

If a self-help group for people who can't stop listening to the Baby Driver soundtrack existed, I'd be at every meeting. As you probably know from watching the action flick's amazing trailer, the movie starring Ansel Elgort as a getaway driver named Baby, includes some pretty incredible song choices. From classic hits like Barry White's "Never Gonna Give You Up" and Simon & Garfunkel's "Baby Driver" (duh), to a bass-pounding new track from Danger Mouse, Run the Jewels, and Big Boi, this soundtrack has pretty much everything. The movie doesn't hit theaters until June 28, so in the meantime feel free to keep the songs on repeat (and scroll all the way down to see our Spotify playlist!). Baby Driver Track List Revealed, Time To Rock Out!

5 June 2017 6:51 PM, PDT | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

The Guardians of the Galaxy films are famous for incorporating classic tracks into the films' scenes and narrative -- nothing beats watching Kurt Russell talk his way through 'Brandy (You're A Fine Girl)' by Looking Glass. James Gunn is not the only director who very carefully considers every track, writes to the music he has picked, and seamlessly weaves it into his films. Edgar Wright has been obsessed with his musical choices since his TV show Spaced, with the following soundtracks for Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, The World's End, and Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World all including some pretty deep cuts that make for fine listening, long after you've seen the film.

Baby Driver is Wright's next film, and the latest trailer not only included 'Tequila' by The Champs, but was also titled "Official TeKillYah Trailer" to put further emphasis on the music. The trailer also sports »

Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver Soundtrack will feature eclectic music royalty with the likes of Queen, Barry White and Blur

Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver couldn’t very well have a limp wristed soundtrack to pound the ears of our fast paced getaway driver so who better to lend a few musical strings than the likes of Queen, Blur, Beck and (obviously) Simon and Garfunkel.

Watch the latest Baby Driver trailer here

The onus falls heavily on a music based theme and heavy weights tracks are needed to help Baby (Ansel Elgort) in order to time bank robbery getaways with beat perfect precision. The soundtrack, which will consist of thirty eclectic tracks, features the cream of the crop from names such as Sky Ferreira, Barry White, the Commodores, Focus, Dave Brubeck, Golden Earring, Young Mc, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, Jonathan Richman & the Modern Lovers, the Damned, Martha and the Vandellas and Sam & Dave, among others. In “Baby Driver,” Ansel Elgort plays a getaway driver who constantly has music playing in order to drown out his tinnitus. And, like “Drive” before it, that music seems to be an integral part of the experience in Edgar Wright’s upcoming film, which premiered at SXSW to strong reviews.

Newswire: Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver soundtrack is just massive

2 June 2017 12:27 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Even for a director whose previous films have all made thorough use of pop music, Edgar Wright takes it much further in his new movie Baby Driver. From the opening seconds, the movie is suffused with songs, playing key roles in both the narrative and the extra-diagetical realm of the soundtrack. It’s stuffed to the gills with tunes, is the essential bullet point here (speaking of which, bullets—also a lot of those in the film), much of it used in inventive and memorable ways. So it shouldn’t be that surprising the movie’s official soundtrack is also enormous, clocking in at 30 tracks. Rolling Stone has the complete listing, and it looks pretty damn good.

Starting with The John Spencer Blues Explosion’s “Bellbottoms” and ending with Danger Mouse (featuring Run The Jewels and Big Boi), it’s a widely varying and decades-deep pull of music, but ...

Newswire: Run The Jewels and Danger Mouse team up for the first song from the Baby Driver soundtrack

18 May 2017 9:02 PM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Edgar Wright has made it abundantly clear that his next movie, Baby Driver, will place a special emphasis on its soundtrack, courtesy of a hero who choreographs his own driving stunts with classic tracks like Golden Earring’s “Radar Love.” But Ansel Elgort’s MP3 player isn’t just filled with ’70s Dutch hits, either, as Wright revealed a new song from the soundtrack today, with “Chase Me” featuring contributions from Danger Mouse, Run The Jewels, and Big Boi.

Sampling and remixing “Bellbottoms,” from the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion (which also features heavily in the film), the track offers up the propulsive rhymes and rhythms you need when you’ve got Kevin Spacey and a semi-psychotic Jamie Foxx breathing down your neck. Baby Driver slides into theaters on June 28, while the soundtrack will release via Danger Mouse’s 30th Century Records. (Meanwhile, according to Pitchfork, both Rtj’s Killer ...

Gold – Review

26 January 2017 6:15 PM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Inspired by a true story, the disappointing Gold stars Mathew McConaughey as Kenny Wells, who in the late 1980’s inherited the Washoe Mining Company in Reno, Nevada from his father (Craig T. Nelson). He’s such a failure that he’s soon running it from the back of the restaurant where his devoted girlfriend Kaylene (Bryce Dallas Howard) waits tables. But Kenny’s fortunes appear to change when he teams up with experienced geologist, Michael Acosta (Édgar Ramírez). The pair head to the jungles of Indonesia where, under the watchful eye of the Suharto regime, and after Kenny almost dies from malaria, the pair announce a major gold strike, the “largest of the decade”. Washoe’s stock soars as everybody vies for a piece of the action.

The elements are there for a good story with Gold, but they don’t fit together well thanks to an underwritten script and »

The Lrm Interview with Gold Director Stephen Gaghan

19 January 2017 8:00 AM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Even filmmaker Stephen Gaghan will admit it’s been far too long since he’s had a movie in theaters with the Oscar-nominated political thriller Syriana. It got him his second Oscar nomination after winning an Oscar for writing Stephen Soderbergh’s Oscar-winning Traffic a few years earlier.

He’s finally back with Gold, a movie loosely based on the real-life Bre-x gold scandal with Matthew McConaughey playing Kenny Wells, a man struggling to keep his father’s mining business alive after his passing. A vision of there being gold in Indonesia, puts him in contact with geologist Michael Acosta (Edgar Ramirez) who believes that he can help Wells find that gold. After a trying start where Kenny almost succumbs to malaria, Acosta finds evidence of gold, which gets many investing in their company, but as with the Bre-x scandal, things weren’t what they seemed.
