BIOGRAPHY

Originally from Monaghan, Ireland - Declan began his acting with Monaghan Youth Theatre (MYT) as a teenager from 1996 to 2000.

He studied his BSc in Psychology in Queen's University, Belfast (QUB) from 1999 - 2001) before going on to study his MA in Film Studies in University College, Dublin (UCD) from 2001 - 2002.

THEATRE

Declan later joined with Monaghan Dramatic Society (MDS), Drumlin Players (http://www.drumlinplayers.com/) and Drunk Monkey Theatre Company on various theatre productions over the years. His stage roles include William Dee in 'The Field', Bernard in 'Death of a Salesman', Romeo in 'Romeo and Juliet', Danny Shapiro in 'Sexual Perversity In Chicago', Juror #4 in '12 Angry Men' and Adam Avaris in 'Seven Deadly Teens' (Dublin Fringe Festival 2004), Barry in 'Happy Birthday, Dear Alice', and Kevin in 'Kevin's Bed'.

Declan represented Ireland with the Drumlin Players in the 2010 Bareilly International Theatre Festival in India with his role as Tom Hamilton in Brian Friel's comedy 'A London Vertigo'.

FILM

Declan has played several leading roles in feature films - playing a cloakroom attendant called Lee in nightclub comedy SOCIAL WORK (2012), ex-soldier James Conroy in the horror film SEER (2008) http://www.seerthemovie.com and Hillary Hall in the heist movie THE BUCK RULES (2007) in UK.

Declan recently appeared in 'PUFFBALL' (2008) by veteran British director Nicolas Roeg (Don't Look Now, Performance, The Man Who Fell To Earth, The Witches) in a supporting role as Mr Kingston, a local estate agent, opposite Donald Sutherland, Kelly Reilly, Rita Tushingham and Miranda Richardson.

TV

Declan has appeared in supporting roles in RTE / BBC television drama ROUGH DIAMOND (dir: Simon Massey) with Lorraine Pilkington (Human Traffic) & Conor Mullen (Silent Witness, Holby City, Proof) and long running Irish soap FAIR CITY.

Declan has appeared in several tv commercials such as Sony Playstation, Irish Nationwide Bank, Invest in Northern Ireland and most recently filmed a 11850 directory enquiries tv commercial with famous Irish director Paddy Breathnach (MAN ABOUT DOG, I WENT DOWN, SHROOMS)

Declan had a leading role in the RTÉ comedy 'Free House' (dir: Eoin Cleland) for Waddell Media and Sixsem Productions for RTÉ Storyland 2011. Declan has also recently had small roles in one episode of RTE / Octagon's third series of crime-thriller LOVE/HATE for RTE this Autumn and in SAVING THE TITANIC, following the surviving crew members of the ill-fated Titanic in 1912.

WRITER / PRODUCER:


Declan has written and produced several short films and a feature length film.

In 2003 he wrote his first short film JACK (2004) which was filmed in Co. Kildare. This was screened twice on RTÉ Shortscreens in Sept 2005.

Declan also wrote, produced and directed a feature film, nightclub comedy SOCIAL WORK (2012) which was based on his experiences working in the old Applejacks nightclub in Monaghan during his teenage years. This was filmed in the UK and Ireland a few years ago and is currently in post-production.

Declan wrote and produced a short film in August 2011 called LOSE THE BOOZE, about two best friends who wake up the morning after the night before in the Bragan mountains, Co. Monaghan - in a stolen beer keg delivery truck. This film is currently finishing post-production and will be entered into film festivals all over the world throughout 2012.

Declan created and co-wrote four episodes of a comedy series called TROUBLE TIMES THREE (2012) which was a finalist in the RTE Storyland 2012 competition - http://www.rte.ie/drama/featured/storyland/troubletimesthree.html.

SYNOPSIS: "Scott is a normal guy. Well, normal for a guy with three girlfriends. He just wanted to get laid more, variety being the spice of life. Everything was going great until they all tell him they are having his baby. They do say everything comes in threes...."
