Ghost Rider’s Origin Story Could Undergo Some Changes In Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4

14 August 2016 11:58 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

One of the biggest surprises to come out of this year’s Comic-Con (despite it being rumoured for weeks beforehand) was the announcement that Ghost Rider is coming to the fourth season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. However, rather than the classic Johnny Blaze version – played by Nicolas Cage in two movies – it will be Robbie Reyes who races into battle.

The comic book version of the character is transformed into Ghost Rider after being gunned down and possessed by his haunted car. Mr. Hyde – played by Kyle MacLachlan in earlier seasons of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. – was also tied into this story, but does that mean we’ll see him return in some form as well? It doesn’t sound likely (especially when you take into account what happened to him when he last appeared in the series), but Executive Producer Jed Whedon had this to say about the fiery hero »

Watch out, Coulson. Marvel’s ‘Agents of Shield’ has found their new Director.

Jason O’Mara will join the cast of Marvel's Agents of Shield for Season 4 while the fate of Adrianne Palicki's Mockingbird is in more doubt than ever. Deadline reports O'Mara "has joined the series as S.H.I.E.L.D’s new Director, playing a character whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s" but no word on who that actually is. You may recall they jumped ahead a bit in time in the Season 3 finale. “Bringing Jason into the mix as the New Director of S.H.I.E.L.D. forces everyone, particularly Coulson, to reevaluate their role in the Agency,” said Executive Producer and Marvel’s Head of Television, Jeph Loeb. “Jason has both the physical presence and acting dynamics that will connect with and challenge even the most loyal agent.” O’Mara has a history with the network, having starred on their short-lived Americanized »

Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. executive producers on choosing the Robbie Reyes version of Ghost Rider

29 July 2016 9:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

During the San Diego Comic-Con International it was announced that Ghost Rider is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe as part of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., although it won’t be Johnny Blaze or Danny Ketch, but rather Robbie Reyes, the All-New Ghost Rider. During an interview with Comic Book Resources, Marvel’s head of television Jeph Loeb and showrunners Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen have explained what they opted for the Robbie Reyes version of the Spirit of Vengeance.

“In its inception, S.H.I.E.L.D. has always been about finding the new, the weird, the unexplainable, and having gone through the last couple seasons and finding out about the Inhumans,” said Loeb. “The Marvel catalogue is filled with all kinds of really interesting, new and often weird things. And so we hit on Ghost Rider and… and in particular with the character of Robbie Reyes, because our show »

Loeb Explains Why Marvel Chose The Ghost Rider That Reads Lrm For Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.

29 July 2016 8:41 AM, PDT | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

Early last year, we exclusively broke the story that Sony and Disney had brokered a deal that would bring Spider-Man into to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But before anyone knew Tom Holland would be the new Spider-Man, there was lots of speculation that this new take on the character would actually be Miles Morales and not Peter Parker. Ultimately, Marvel stuck with the tried, true, and most iconic Spider-Man alter ego. But now that the time has come for Ghost Rider to enter Marvel's live-action Universe via ABC's "Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." they went the opposite way. Rather than go with Johnny Blaze- the most well-known Ghost Rider- they went with the newer, Latino character Robbie Reyes.

They made this announcement shortly after our intrepid Scoop Hunter, Kellvin Chavez,  broke the story.

This move makes sense, if you think about it. Unlike with Spidey/Parker, Rider/Blaze has more negative baggage associated with him. »

"Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D." - 'Ghost Rider'

27 July 2016 11:33 AM, PDT | SneakPeek | See recent SneakPeek news »

Take a look @ San Diego Comic-Con teaser footage revealing Season 4 of "Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.", featuring Marvel Comics flaming skull-head character 'Ghost Rider', aka 'The Spirit of Vengeance', based on the character from the 2014 Marvel Now! "Ghost Rider" comic book series::

According to executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, despite Ghost Rider's background being rooted in mysticism, the show blends the world of magic with the basis of science.

"Magic is just science we don't understand," said Whedon. "The McU started with 'Iron Man', who is a guy who built a suit -- a smart guy built a suit. And then when you put 'Thor' into that world, it started to be like, 'How are these things going to work?' And they worked!

"So they started to open up into the world of the fantastic, and we will be doing that this year »

"Shield" S4 Goes Darker & More Mystical

With "Doctor Strange" on the horizon, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is about to take on a more fantastical tone. That will be reflected in ABC's "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. " which is set to be a quite different show when it returns with its fourth season this Fall.

Though the announcement of Ghost Rider being a part of the series stole the limelight at Comic Con last weekend, the show's executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen have revealed that the series will make a very real effort to ground the world of magic that's coming in by blending it with a real basis in science. Whedon tells Cbr:

"You'll see this in the movies that are coming. In Thor, they famously said, 'Magic is just science we don't understand.' The McU started with Iron Man, who is a guy who built a suit -- a smart guy built a suit. »

Marvel's Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Will Unite Magic And Science In Season 4

While Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s big takeaway from Comic-Con was the announced inclusion of Ghost Rider in the show's fourth season, there are still a lot of hanging threads from the end of last season to deal with. One of the biggest factors is the inclusion of Life Model Decoys, teased in the last scene of the season finale. According to executive producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen, despite Ghost Rider's background being rooted in mysticism, the show is making a concerted effort to blend the seemingly separate world of magic with the grounded basis of science.  "You'll see this in the movies that are coming," said Whedon at Comic-Con this past weekend. Sounds Like Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Will Feature Some Classic Inhuman Characters

Though Ghost Rider will likely be the main focus of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4, from the sounds of things they're not forgetting about The Inhumans. "So when we return to focusing on Inhumans, we’ll be able to do a little bit more." That freedom will apparently allow for the introduction of some "classic Inhumans". Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. Season 4 Will Feature Some “Classic” Inhumans

The last season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. spent a lot of time establishing the Inhumans as a vital part of the McU (or at least, the Mtu), and although season 4 will see the introduction of Ghost Rider, it doesn’t sound like the Terrigen Mist-afflicted folk are going to be taking a back seat – on the contrary, actually, as we could well be meeting some of their Royal Family.

In an new interview with io9, producers Jed Whedon and Maurissa Tancharoen confirmed that the Inhumans will still play a big role on the show moving forward, and that they now have a bit more freedom when it comes to which characters they can adapt.

Many of you may be familiar with Ghost Rider from the Nicolas Cage movies.

Ghost Rider is a supernatural entity that takes over a human host.

When cursed, the host looks skeletal and their head appears to be in flames. That's hellfire, my friends.

The character who will be hosting the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Ghost Rider will be Robbie Reyes.

Ghost Rider also rides a motorcycle that appears to defy gravity and goes faster than all other vehicles.

The entity seeks out souls and forces them to feel the pain equal to that they've inflicted on all others. »

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4: Mallory Jansen to play Aida

8 June 2016 1:38 AM, PDT | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Rob Leane Aug 18, 2016

Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 4's Life Model Decoy Aida will be played by Galavant's Mallory Jansen...

Aida - a Life Model Decoy robot, imbued with artifical intelligence - was teased in Holden Radcliffe's lab at the end of Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D. season 3. Now, we can put a face to a name: Galavant's Malloy Jansen has been cast in the role, TV Line reports.

Aida stands for Artificial Intelligence Data Analyzer. The character was created by Mark Gruenwald and Bob Hall for Marvel comics, back in 1985. Within the fiction of the comics, she was an A.I. within a computer created by scientist Tom Thumb, a member of the super team Squadron Supreme.

That origin story will change for the show, as Aida is clearly an Lmd robot cooked up by John Hannah's Holden Radcliffe after he dusted of some old S.H.I.E.L. »
