American Idol: Was Season 11′s Top 10 the Strongest Ever? Take Our Poll!

American Idol: Was Season 11′s Top 10 the Strongest Ever? Take Our Poll!
There’s this weird part of the week — from Friday morning till Monday evening — when not a single major TV network airs a reality singing competition. It’s terrible, I know, but it also gives me a lot of time to ponder American Idol history. (Everyone does this in their free time, yes?) And my latest flight of Idol fancy got me mulling this question: Was Season 11′s Top 10 the strongest — top to bottom — in show history? Let’s examine:

For starters, I’d automatically rule out the five seasons with three or more Top 10 contestants who probably wouldn’t have outlasted Season 11′s No.

American Idol Top 10 Results Recap: Nobody Wins From This Misery

American Idol Top 10 Results Recap: Nobody Wins From This Misery
Shed no tears for the 10th-place finisher on Season 11 of American Idol. (Well, unless you feel sorry for said contestant having had to endure the up-close sight of Randy Jackson’s sequined creepyface/Golliwogg/Tubby Toast pin during Wednesday’s performance show.)

But in all seriousness, this season, it seems there’s a little less sting following in the footsteps of such Idol footnotes as Julia Demato, Jessica Sierra, Lisa Tucker, Chris Sligh, and Chikezie — at least when you consider how incredibly deep and evenly matched this season’s Top 10 truly is.

What’s more, the evicted singer got one

American Idol: What Songs Should Nigel Lythgoe Ban in Season 11?

American Idol: What Songs Should Nigel Lythgoe Ban in Season 11?
Last month, while interviewing executive producer Nigel Lythgoe for a story about possible changes to American Idol for its upcoming eleventh season, I proposed the idea that the show should introduce a list of 11 songs that would be banned from the live performance rounds on the grounds that they’ve been done to death in previous seasons. Lythgoe’s response caught me off guard: “Well, Mike, if you want to write down and send me 11 songs that you don’t want to hear again, I will put them through to the committee.”

Well, sir, you don’t have to ask me twice!

Kelly Clarkson Is Returning To 'Idol,' Here's Who Should Be Next!

By now, you're probably aware that Kelly Clarkson will return to "American Idol" this week, to perform her current Country smash "Don't You Wanna Stay" with Jason Aldean during Thursday night's results show.

Obviously, we're pumped by the news &#8212 after all, we loved Kelly's last album, 2009's All I Ever Wanted &#8212 and we're glad to see her stepping back into the spotlight to promote her still-too-far-away new album (she did a medley of her greatest hits last week on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" last week). But, to be honest, it's not like this is the first time she'll be back on the show &#8212 shoot, she was on just last year, joining other "Idol" faves in a tribute performance to departing judge Simon Cowell &#8212 so we'd like to use this opportunity to shine a light on some of Clarkson's fellow "A.I." alumni ... because, really, they could use the love.

American Idol: The Girls Who Sang With Fire

American Idol: The Girls Who Sang With Fire
Ever have that nightmare where you’re headed into a classroom for a huge final exam, even though you’ve only attended one class all semester? That’s pretty much the conundrum facing American Idol fans after Wednesday night’s season 10 women’s semifinal: Based on a single night of live performances, we’re being asked to toss at least half of the top 12 women onto the Idol scrap heap, where their sparkling dreams of superstardom will be violently ground down and repurposed as body shimmer for Jennifer Lopez. And inevitably, we’re bound to get some answers wrong.

Should the story is proven true, it will be her return to television after quite a long absent.

Despite Tila's involvement, the series is in jeopardy of being canceled since it was reported that VH1 is having a problem in finding other "celebrities" willing to participate.

'American Idol': Jessica Sierra gives birth to a baby boy

"American Idol" finalist Jessica Sierra gave birth to Kayden Cash Sierra Dec. 5 in Los Angeles.

Just hours after the birth, Sierra spoke with RadarOnline via video from her hospital bed. She was cradling new son Kayden in her arms. Jessica gained notoriety after "Idol" because she got a bit out of control, abusing alcohol and drugs and eventually winding up in jail.

However, she is now proudly two years sober after doing a stint on Dr. Drew's "Celebrity Rehab" and has a beautiful new baby boy. Kayden was born with a full head of black hair and weighed 6 lbs 12 oz. The middle name of "Cash" is because of her love of singer Johnny Cash.

She declined to give the father's name, calling him a "former boyfriend" and that now he's just a very good friend. Congratulations, Jessica!
