Despite his villain character of 'Jean Vilain' meeting his demise in "The Expendables 2," action star Jean-Claude Van Damme says he'd be open to an idea floated around - that he'll return as the character's twin brother.
Van Damme famously played twins in both the action classic "Double Impact" and the less well-regarded "Maximum Risk". Fan site Expendables Premiere has discussed the idea ever since the end of the last sequel, but now Van Damme has responded:
"I had a great time shooting The Expendables 2 with Mr Stallone and other big action stars. Mr. Stallone is an inventive man. He may even create a stronger character than Claude Vilain, the twin brother of Jean Vilain.
Some fans ask me if the next Vilain - if there is a next - is going to be a good guy or a bad guy. I would leave it to Mr Stallone to decide, »

In a new interview with Jean-Claude Van Damme, the actor revealed that he has an idea about how his Jean Vilain character from "The Expendables 2" can return for a potential fourth installment in the franchise. "I had a great time shooting 'The Expendables 2' with Mr. Stallone and other big action stars," he said. "Mr. Stallone is an inventive man. He may even create a stronger character than Claude Vilain, the twin brother of Jean Vilain. Some fans ask me if the next Vilain . if there's a next. is going to be a good or a bad guy. I would leave it to Mr. Stallone to decide, as I trust his way of imagination." Van Damme played twins in several of his own movies, but it's not clear whether Stallone would want to make "The Expendables 4" or bring back Van Damme. »
When we last saw Jean-Claude Van Damme's Jean Vilain at the end of The Expendables 2, he was in no shape to return for the upcoming The Expendables 3. However, Van Damme has an idea on how he can come back for The Expendables 4, if it gets made. The actor commented about him possibly returning to Expendables Premiere recently, and also says he really enjoyed working with Sylvester Stallone and the rest of the muscular actors. "I had a great time shooting The Expendables »

Given his character's condition at the end of The Expendables 2, you'd be correct in assuming that Jean-Claude Van Damme will not show up in The Expendables 3. But that hasn't stopped fans of the franchise asking Van Damme if the villainous Jean Vilain will ever return in possible further instalments. The answer to that question is no. Claude Vilain, on the other hand... that's a different story. Yup, fan site Expendables Premiere has come up with a twin brother idea so ridiculous that it might actualy be a perfect fit, and Jcvd himself seems to agree."I had a great time shooting The Expendables 2 with Mr. Stallone and other big action stars," he responded via Twitter (although it must have been a Dm since the exchange isn't on his feed). "Mr. Stallone is an inventive man. He may even create a stronger character than Claude Vilain, the twin brother of Jean Vilain. »
Jean-Claude Van Damme has had a quirky and fun career resurgence. Yeah, he’s found himself in a position to return to somewhat mainstream relevance since 2008′s Jcvd (which is all sorts of fun, and you should watch), and while he’s done so most notably in his role as Jean Vilain in Sylvester Stallone’s The Expendables 2, and a solid voice acting gig in Kung Fu Panda 2, Van Damme’s heart belongs to indies and direct to DVD actioners. With two new Universal Soldier flicks amongst that list of films, I’d say we should be pretty stoked about the state of his career. Next on the docket is Pound of Flesh, where Jcvd will portray a man who rescues a woman in distress, and wakes the next morning in a blood-filled hotel bathroom, sans kidney for his troubles. According to Van Damme, he’s gonna fight a lot of people over this, saying »
