Nice Guys Finish Last: Why Ufc’s Johny Hendricks Is Getting Screwed

7 December 2012 8:39 PM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Before I write another word about Johny Hendricks, I have a confession to make.

I am biased.

I am an Oklahoma State alumnus, born and raised in beautiful Stillwater, Oklahoma. At the dinner table each night as a young Lucky, we thanked God for Henry Iba, Eddie Sutton, and the entire Smith wrestling dynasty (LeRoy, John, Pat, & Mark) with their 7 national championships and 2 Olympic gold medals. I take great pride in the 34 national champions and 134 individual Ncaa championships of my school and alma mater. And our Johny is part of that bedrock.

When I see a Cowboy wrestler with a freaking spitter on stage at a Ufc presss conference, rocking an epic beard, and his easy going folksy accent, I know that’s my guy. That’s a Good Ole Boy. Now with all of that being said, I can objectively and emphatically state:

Johny Hendricks Is Getting Screwed

Preview of Ufc on Fox 5 Podcast

5 December 2012 2:19 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

We’re back with the complete preview of Ufc on Fox: Henderson vs. Diaz. This time on the Getting Lucky mixed martial arts podcast, I am joined by English Thom Burton of lovely Southampton as my guest co-host. I figured it was time I brought a Brit into the fold. Though all bets are off when we cover the Tuf: Smashes Finale next week.

Aussie Aussie Aussie!

(Did I forget to mention that I’m an American … living in Australia?)

Getting Lucky is now available on iTunes. Be sure to subscribe. Or you can find us on a number of alternate RSS subscription feeds as well as a complete index of episodes available for download or web streaming here. As always, a big thank you to, the global network of fans, for their participation in our polls, tournaments, and listener comments.

Interview with Ufc Fighter – Tim Means

28 November 2012 3:07 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

Tim Means (18-3) joins me on the Getting Lucky with Rob podcast to talk about his upcoming fight on Ufc on Fox 5: Henderson vs. Diaz on December 8th in Seattle, Washington. He’s facing Abel Trujillo (9-4), who is making his promotional debut. In our candid and open conversation, Tim shares with us his storied background in New Mexico, learning to fight against bullies, taking a pro fight with a gun shot wound, his stint in prison, and much more.

Ufc on Fox 5 Overview: This fight for Tim Means was originally intended to be on the Ufc 151 card, but due to the cancellation of the headliner between Jon Jones and Dan Henderson and the subsequent loss of the entire pay per view card, the fight was moved to this card along with Daron Cruickshank vs. Henry Martinez and Denis Siver vs. Nam Pham, all on the undercard.

Ufc on Fox 5: Preview & Predictions – Benson Henderson vs Nate Diaz

2 November 2012 3:37 AM, PDT | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

I’m a little early for this one. On Saturday, December 8th, we will see arguably the biggest card of 2012. Six of the best fighters in the world will square off to see who is the better man. Two legends in the sport will take on the best two up and comers to see if they still have something to give. A defending champion will face off  against a young fighter finally living up to his potential. We will also see two of the most exciting finishers in the sport today face off for a spot in the Top Ten of their division. Any fight on the main card has the potential to be a Fight of the Night or Year contender. On December 8th, Ufc on Fox 5 will light up annihilate everything on T.V in terms of excitement.

I will post my predictions about the stacked prelims before the card airs. »
