Review: Lifetime's 'Secret Life of Marilyn Monroe'

30 May 2015 7:00 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

In our ever-more-fragmented media landscape, we're seeing fewer and fewer recognizable brand-name stars for *everybody*, but we're probably getting more and more recognizable brand-name stars for *somebody*.  And that means that people who, to certain individuals, are clearly stars of a certain stature are virtual unknowns to great masses, possibly to majorities. And that's even the case with culture-watching professionals. Take Britt Robertson. I didn't see many "Tomorrowland" reviews calling her an unknown or even a newcomer, thankfully, but plenty of critics are still bending over backwards to reference credits like "Dan in Real Life" or "Delivery Man" as if audiences may struggle to place her. I hear her name and I think of an actress who has been the unquestioned star of at least two network TV shows and one of the stars (if only for a for a season) of a bona fide hit. In the sphere of what I do, »

Undateable: NBC Sitcom Renewed for "Live" Third Season

9 May 2015 11:29 AM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

The show's ratings have not been great but Undateable will be back for a third season on NBC -- but there will be an interesting twist.

Undateable follows a group of single friends who are trying to figure out the fine art of relationships. The cast includes Chris D'Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, Rick Glassman, David Fynn, Bianca Kajlich, and Bridgit Mendler.

The first season of Undateable aired last summer and drew unimpressive ratings, averaging a 0.91 rating in the 18-49 demographic with 2.78 million viewers. NBC is still struggling in the sitcom department so they renewed it for a second season anyway.

Preview – Undateable Still A Home Run, Tonight With 100% More Dogs

14 April 2015 11:57 AM, PDT | AreYouScreening.com | See recent AreYouScreening news »

I hope you’re watching Undateable, because the show is still one of the best times on television, and I think it’s getting even better as the new season progresses.

The addition of Good Luck Charlie‘s Bridgit Mendler was a great move, and she has, so far, been phenomenal on the show. She’s just the right mix of character that slips into the overall structure of the cast, and that’s a tricky thing to pull off.

In tonight’s episode, Justin discovers Danny has been taken advantage of, and Brett teaches Candace to lie – see the above clip.

Undateable: Season Two Ratings

1 April 2015 1:42 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Last summer, NBC launched a new sitcom called Undateable and it performed poorly in the ratings. The network still renewed it for a season two and decided to give it a second chance, airing it behind The Voice. Will the numbers improve enough for this sitcom to be renewed for a third season or, will it be cancelled instead?

Undateable follows a group of single friends who are trying to figure out the fine art of relationships. The cast includes Chris D'Elia, Brent Morin, Ron Funches, Rick Glassman, David Fynn, Bianca Kajlich, and Bridgit Mendler.

The former Disney star has been added to the show as a regular starting on season 2 (that premiers Tuesday), as her first regular acting gig. She opens up about the differences between her former Disney roles and hew new one, as well as explained why she made the leap. Here are a few highlights.

I’ve been working on my music and going to school for the past year, and then [Undateable] came up and it just seemed like the right fit. I feel like I generally go off of just the gut feeling that something’s right. I think a lot of things in life do have to do with timing, and »

Bridgit Mendler: From Disney Good Girl to an Undateable Truth-Teller

Ready or not, here Bridgit Mendler comes — to NBC’s Undateable, where for Season 2 (premiering Tuesday at 9/8c) she has been added as a series regular.

Familiar to the younger set (and their folks, ahem) as Good Luck, Charlie‘s Teddy, Mendler has a cool 100 sitcom episodes under her belt, yet the Bill Lawrence comedy marks her first full-on foray into the broadcast-tv waters.

Talking TV comedy with 'Undateable' producer Bill Lawrence

12 March 2015 6:22 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Every few years at press tour, I find myself sitting down with Bill Lawrence — creator, co-creator and/or showrunner of “Spin City,” “Scrubs,” “Cougar Town,” “Ground Floor” and NBC’s “Undateable,” which returns for a second season Tuesday night at 9:30 — to talk about the state of TV comedy. As a guy who broke into the business during the ‘90s sitcom boom (his early jobs were on “Boy Meets World” and “Friends”), who’s worked extensively on both traditional multi-cam sitcoms and filmed single-cam comedies, and has now worked for both broadcast and cable (with “Cougar Town,” which concludes its run at the end of this month, he’s done both), he can take a global view of the genre in a way many of his contemporaries can’t, and he remains one of the champion talkers among showrunners of comedy or drama. Back in January, we talked about letting »

Best of Late Night TV: Ansel Elgort's Embarrassing Bruce Willis Story, Norman Reedus' Best Fan-Licking Requests (Video)

If you're like us and value your sleep, you probably nodded off into your Ambien dreamland before the party started on post-prime time TV. Don't worry; we've got you covered. Here's the best of what happened last night on late night.

"The Fault in Our Stars" and "Divergent" star Ansel Elgort was on "The Tonight Show" Tuesday night, and he shared the story of a recent party he went to with his "ridiculous" mother, who has no idea who any celebrities are. They ran into Bruce Willis and his mom had no idea who he was, so she just said, "Hi, what's your name? What do you do?" When Bruce said he was an actor, Ansel's mom said, "Oh my son is an actor. How's that going for you?" In classic Bruce fashion, he just replied, "It's going pretty good." Haha. Good for Ansel's mom - it's about time someone »
