TV Review: ‘People of Earth’ Season 2 on TBS

There’s nothing large about the satisfying and humane “People of Earth,” except the distance its alien characters have traveled to this planet full of mixed-up humans. It’s not a show that traffics in big moves or over-the-top jokes, but it’s all the more enjoyable for its devotion to dry, character-driven comedy.

And despite being about a bunch of people who think they’re alien abductees — and who found out in Season 1 that they actually have unwillingly spent time with extraterrestrials — the use of the word “humane” isn’t incorrect. Like “Superstore,” “Parks and Recreation,” and “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” — all shows on the resume of Greg Daniels, one of the TBS comedy’s executive producers — “People of Earth” typically views its characters through a warmly bemused lens. Nasim Pedrad is moving to TBS.

The Saturday Night Live alum has joined the cast of the Turner-owned cable network's alien comedy People of Earth.

Pedrad, who will be a series regular starting with the second season, will play special agent Alex Foster, a smart, dedicated FBI investigator getting a second chance after recently being disgraced.
