Wendy Williams’ Staff ‘Up In Arms’ As 3 Producers Fired In Wake of Black Colleges Uproar

1 August 2016 2:48 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Wendy Williams can’t quite put the NAACP and black college controversy behind her. Three top producers for the daytime talk host have been sacked, in the wake of an uproar this summer over Williams’ on-air comments about the civil-rights group and historically black colleges and universities (Hbcu), two insiders have told TheWrap. Now the staff is “up in arms,” one insider said, over the belief that the fired producers are being scapegoated for a controversy for which they were not responsible. One of the fired producers, Jason Gabel, had been with the show since it started in 2008. Also Read: Wendy Williams. »

After Roland Martin called out Wendy Williams for her comments about historically black colleges and the NAACP, she invited the journalist to visit her daytime talk show — where he provided what one viewer called a “Black History lesson.” Wendy Williams said in response to Jesse Williams‘ Bet Awards speech that she would be offended if there were all white-colleges or a National Organization for White People. Martin then criticized her on his TVOne Show. As she welcomed Martin to her show Thursday, Williams played a clip of his TVOne show and apologized for her remarks. “I was wrong,” she said. »

Justice and accountability,” the front of the black shirts read, while the back read, “Philando Castile. Alton Sterling. Black Lives Matter.” The back of the shirt also had a Dallas Police Department emblem. “I commend them for it,” Lt. [Review] Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates

9 July 2016 5:30 AM, PDT | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Inspired by “true” events, Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates is a screwball comedy with the potential to edge towards a smarter farce. More favorable than a certain Adam Sandler Hawaiian vacation comedy, if at times no less offensive, the film delivers a few big laughs even if a few notes fall flat along the way. Operating at full throttle, web short and TV vet Jake Szymanski lets the inmates run the asylum while allowing Aubrey Plaza to break out of her shell; here she’s shed that awkwardness thanks to weed and booze.

The plot is as direct as can be. Dave (Zac Efron) and Mike Stangle (Adam DeVine) have ruined many a family affair with well-intentioned but disruptive antics and are given an ultimatum: their mom (Stephanie Faracy) and dad (Stephen Root) tell them to find nice, respectable girls to bring to their sister Jeanie’s (Sugar Lyn Beard) wedding or stay home. »

Roland Martin had a very blunt message to Wendy Williams when discussing her recent comments about the NAACP and historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) “If you actually bothered to read a book and not gossip magazines, you might know these things,” Martin said on his TVOne news program. “Wendy let me help you out. When you’re on TV and have no idea what you’re talking about, shut the hell up. Don’t open your mouth. Don’t embarrass yourself. Because you sound silly.” The TV commentator’s passionate response came after Williams, a daytime talk show host, »

Wendy Williams Trashed for Jesse Williams Comments: ‘The Older Version of Stacy Dash’

7 July 2016 7:44 AM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Wendy Williams is under fire after making some controversial statements about Jesse Williams‘ Bet Awards speech. “I must say to you, he was on Bet. His speech was very poignant,” Williams said on her show this week. “On the other hand, I would be really offended if there was a school that was known as a historically white college. We have historically Black colleges. What if there was the National Organization for White People, only? There’s the NAACP.” Williams continued by saying “racism sucks,” but many fans online were already fed up. Many compared Williams to Stacy Dash, who had plenty thoughts. »

Film Review: ‘Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates’

5 July 2016 3:03 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

It’s fair to say that anyone who goes to see “Mike and Dave Need Wedding Dates” will expect a certain amount of bang (pun intended) for their buck. The movie, after all, has “wedding” in the title (which, of course, is designed to get you to think of “Wedding Crashers”), and it’s got a poster that makes it look like its four lead characters are just waking up after a fraternity-bash bender from hell. The audience is sure to demand its quota of gross-out gags, gratuitous nudity, discombobulated druggie slapstick, dialogue sprinkled with over-the-top raunch, and at least one sequence in which a character we like gets seriously physically damaged. “Mike and Dave” offers all of that, so no one should walk away too disappointed, but the good news is that the movie, while it rambles on a bit, also has a gently nutty spirit that is often quite winning. »

Arrow Season 5: Carly Pope Joins as Coast City Reporter

29 June 2016 11:49 AM, PDT | TVfanatic | See recent TVfanatic news »

Will the big story be on Oliver Queen?

It will be if Wendy Williams has anything to say about it.

Carly Pope has been tapped to play Susan Williams, a Coast City journalist who set her sites on Queen as a way to break into the big time. Goodness knows Oliver Queen should be in the news a lot more than he probably is.

If the name sounds familiar to comics fans, it probably would, as Williams is married to Jim Jordan, the little brother of Hal Jordan, none other than the Green Lantern

Yes, we will come thisclose to the Green Lantern once again without going near the character.

With Superman making an appearance on Supergirl, it sure seems silly to keep Green Lantern away from The CW's DC family, doesn't it?

Anyway. Susan will make her first appearance on Arrow Season 5 Episode 3. Expect something to be going down with the new mayor. »

Wendy Williams Thinks Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston Are Moving Too Fast (and Claims One of Them Is an "Opportunist")

28 June 2016 4:55 AM, PDT | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

Is it a romance or a showmance? Wendy Williams isn't sure. In the midst of Taylor Swift and Tom Hiddleston's Pda tour, the daytime talk show host dedicated a portion of her show's Hot Topics segment Monday to dissecting their romance. "So, Taylor swift and this new boyfriend of hers, Tom Hiddleston, apparently they're getting serious." When the audience snickered, Williams let them know she was just as surprised. "I know. It's only been three weeks. And she's 26. That's old enough to understand—like, you don't show your feelings on your sleeve in three weeks, you know? And he's a 30-something." "I suspect he's also a bit of an opportunist," she »

Mariah Carey and Jennifer Lopez's back-and-forth of whether they know each other just won't come to an end. The "Always Be My Baby" songstress appeared on Watch What Happens Live Tuesday, where host Andy Cohen brought up the long-running feud that stemmed from Carey claiming in the early 2000s that she didn't know Lopez. "That was so long ago," she said. "I can't believe people still make such a big deal out of it." Both J. Lo and Carey continue to answer questions about it, further fueling the fire. In March, Lopez told Wendy Williams that Carey is "forgetful I guess! We've met many times. I don't know...I don't know her that »
