Shetland’s Series 7 return is a bittersweet one for fans of the Scottish BBC crime drama. The six-episode run will be actor Douglas Henshall’s last in the lead role of Di Jimmy Perez. Henshall’s departure though, doesn’t mean the end for Shetland, which has been renewed for an eighth series due to arrive in 2023. A new, as-yet-unannounced, lead actor will be joining the returning cast for that run.
Series 7, which starts on BBC One on Wednesday the 10th of August at 9pm, promises to tie up Perez’s loose ends and follow up on last series’ will-they-won’t-they frisson with Irish carer Meg. Before Perez says his final goodbye to the evidence board though, there’s a missing person case to solve, and a host of new characters to interrogate. Here’s who he’ll be meeting…

Although the Outlander TV show dropped in the 18-49 year old viewer demographic in season two, the total audience actually grew by nearly five percent. Because premium cable networks rely on paid subscribers -- rather than ad revenue -- audience growth is more important than a show's demo numbers. Starz was quick to respond to that growth and renewed Outlander through its fourth season, back in June of 2016. Can it build on its success? Will Outlander be cancelled or renewed for more seasons on Starz? Stay tuned. A time travel drama, Outlander, stars Caitriona Balfe as Claire Randall and Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser. The Starz cast also includes Tobias Menzies, Duncan Lacroix, Lotte Verbeek, Laura Donnelly, Steven Cree, Grant O'Rourke, Richard Rankin, and Sophie Skelton. Outlander, season three, is based on the third novel in Diana Gabaldon's...

Anyone else feel like you've been having trouble breathing for the past hour? Tonight's Outlander premiere was all about breathing, in a way. Jamie's (Sam Heughan) labored breaths opened the season as he struggled to survive after Culloden, lying on the ground and recalling his death match with none other than Black Jack Randall (Tobias Menzies). Eventually, we all came to realize that Jamie had been lying there for hours, with a dead Black Jack on top of him. Jamie seemed dead too, but he was eventually found and saved by Rupert (Grant O'Rourke), who had amassed a small group of survivors in a little house. But they didn't get so survive long, because the English found them and...

Grant O'Rourke as Rupert MacKenzie in 'Outlander' (Sony Pictures Television/Starz)
It took some convincing (and the young Willie to volunteer first), but Rupert MacKenzie is in on the plan to help Claire and Murtagh rescue Jamie on "Outlander."
"I think it speaks of the evolved loyalty, I guess, that they have towards them or the affection that they have towards them that they would do that," Grant O'Rourke, who plays Rupert, told Access Hollywood of Rupert and Angus agreeing to put their lives on the line to help.
