Update: The House of Representatives overwhelmingly rejected Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s effort to oust Speaker Mike Johnson, a move that would have sent the chamber into another round of chaos.
Greene’s motion to oust Johnson was tabled 359-43, with seven members voting present. Eleven Republicans and 32 Democrats voted against sidelining the motion.
The vote was a resounding defeat for Greene, who had insisted that she had substantial support for her effort.
CNN and MSNBC did extensive coverage of the vote, but Fox News largely stuck with The Five, doing a more complete update on Special Report at 6 p.m. Et.
That’s quite a contrast to October, when the House rejected efforts to table a resolution to oust Speaker Kevin McCarthy. He then was removed as speaker, with 208 Democrats joining with eight Republicans.
That led to a protracted effort to find a successor who could amass a majority to become the next speaker.

Social media giant TikTok has sued the U.S. government, alleging that recently signed legislation that could potentially ban the app violates the First Amendment rights of both the company and its users.
Last month, President Joe Biden signed a foreign aid package that included legislation requiring ByteDance — TikTok’s Chinese parent company — to sell the social media platform within 270 days or be banned from app stores and web-hosting services. The legislation would also create a process through which the president can designate other social media applications with ties to foreign...

Now that a potential TikTok ban has been passed by Congress and signed by President Biden, some lawmakers are getting more comfortable saying what exactly the ban would help them accomplish. In recent days, at least two prominent Republican lawmakers have linked the possible ban to their concerns that content on the extremely popular social media app is too sympathetic to Palestinians under siege in Gaza.

House Speaker Mike Johnson told student protesters at Columbia University on Wednesday to “enjoy” their free speech before declaring that he would urge President Joe Biden to deploy the National Guard to universities and colleges across the country — where students are being arrested en masse in an increasingly violent crackdown against pro-Palestinan protests.
Johnson and a group of Republican representatives were not welcomed warmly during their visit to what has become an epicenter of pro-Palestine activism on college campuses, which came as protests raged at higher-learning institutions nationwide. Videos circulated...

For all the time Republicans spend complaining about the economic struggles faced by everyday Americans, they remain steadfast in their commitment to ensuring major corporations can continue squeezing their customers.
Late Wednesday afternoon, the GOP-controlled House Financial Services Committee voted to advance a bill that would repeal a new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (Cfpb) rule that drastically reduces the caps on credit card late fees — from $30-$41 to $8. The legislation would also repeal the Cfpb’s ban on automatic adjustment of late fees due to inflation. In the Democratic-controlled Senate,...

On Friday, controversial Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Georgia) filed a motion to oust House Speaker Mike Johnson.
Johnson has served as House Speaker since October 2023, when he took over for Kevin McCarthy, who was ousted on October 3, when eight House Republicans and all Democrats supported a motion by Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-Florida) to remove him.
It was not instantly clear how the House would act on Greene’s motion, which requires only a majority vote to remove its Speaker.
She did not file the motion as a special bill – which would have a vote forced within two legislative days – but instead, as a regular motion, which could be referred to a committee, where it would likely be disregarded.
Greene said in a speech on the House floor that the GOP majority was “a failure.”
After filing the motion, Greene spoke to reporters.
“We were promised regular order,” she stated. “That...

Director/Writer: Dustin Rikert.
Cast: Sam McConkey, Paulino Hemmer, Mike Lawler, Shari Wiedmann, and Rich Williams.
If there is ever a movie which is reminiscent of the schlock in theatres from the late 70's to mid 80's, then Death Hunter: Werewolves vs. Vampires is it. The script's underlying silliness is too obvious. If treated as a horror comedy, then the laughs have some merit.
Watching this film is like watching some of the silliness from the television series "Freddy's Nightmare" (1988-90), when Freddy is no longer scary, or Re-Animator (1985), where Dr. Carl Hill (David Gale) goads Herbert West on. Although the actors are trying to be serious, the end result is very mixed. The blood and guts spilled are low budget, and the acting uneven. At least Sotreum (Paulino Hemmer) is interesting as a suave antagonistic vampire.
Intentional or not, this movie is more like a dark action adventure...

I'd argue a more appropriate title would be Death Hunter: Some Guy Bitten By A Werewolf Partially Cured By An Antidote That Leaves Him With All The Abilities Of A Lycan Without Actually Transforming Into One Begins Running Around Looking Like A Chemo Patient Blade But Barely Uses His Lycan Powers Vs. Werewolves & Vampires, but that's just me.
Death Hunter: Werewolves vs. Vampires is an American movie I had never heard of when I stumbled upon a DVD listing on a Thai website I scour every so often. At the time it didn't even have an IMDb listing. It still doesn't have one. Needless to say I purchased a cheap import and reviewed it over a year ago. As you can read for yourself, I was less than impressed.
Now you'll get your chance this May to tell me if you agree or disagree with my assessment when Mti Home Video...
