A Comic-Con teaser trailer has arrived online for Fox’s upcoming paranormal action comedy series Ghosted, which reunites Hot Tub TIme Machine 2 stars Craig Robinson and Adam Scott, and also stars Ally Walker, Adeel Akhtar, Edi Patterson, and Sarah Baker; watch it below…

Leroy Wright (Robinson) is a cynical skeptic and former missing persons detective, who, if we’re speaking frankly, thinks that “aliens” are a big ole bunch of B.S. and that people who believe in them are certifiably nuts…People like Max Jennifer (Scott). Max is a genius “true believer” in the paranormal who’s convinced his wife was abducted by aliens. At low points in their lives, both Leroy and Max are recruited by Captain Ava Lafrey (Ally Walker, “Colony,” “Sons of Anarchy”), a take-no-prisoners, former Air Force test pilot and head of the Bureau Underground, a secret government organization investigating paranormal cases. Adam Scott Comedy ‘Ghosted’ Gets Series Order, Will Shoot in L.A.

An “X-Files”-style comedy? It’s not too good to be true, and it will be shooting in Los Angeles! “Ghosted,” which stars “Parks & Recreation” favorite Adam Scott and perpetual scene-stealer Craig Robinson, has received a series order from Fox. One of this past pilot season’s hottest commodities, the single-camera project comes courtesy of writer Tom Gormican (“That Awkward Moment”), and will depict Scott as a “true believer” of the paranormal and Robinson, his skeptical counterpart, recruited by the Bureau Underground to investigate “unexplained” events happening in L.A., which may pose a threat to the human race. Greenstein/Daniel Casting, credited with casting TV Land’s Betty White-starrer “Hot in Cleveland,” is heading up casting duties. Both Scott and Robinson will pull double duty as executive producers, along with Gormican, Mark Schulman, Oly Obst, as well as showrunner Kevin Etten (“Workaholics,” “Scrubs”).   On the studio front is 20th Century Fox TV, »

Guest Actress in a Comedy: The Frontrunners and Dark Horses for 2017 Emmys

There are a lot of returning faces in the guest actress category. Look for multiple Emmy winners Christine Baranski and Laurie Metcalf to repeat in this category for their work as the mothers of leads Jim Parsons and Johnny Galecki on “The Big Bang Theory” — Baranski already has four noms for the role, while Metcalf has one. Three of the four times Melissa McCarthy has hosted “SNL” has led to a nomination here, and this year she has the bonus of her impeccable Sean Spicer imitation. Elizabeth Banks has also been nominated in the category before for “Modern Family,” but she faces serious competition from other “Family” guests like Dot-Marie Jones and Jane Krakowski. Another show with great guests is “Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt,” which had turns by Laura Dern, Rachel Dratch, Maya Rudolph and Amy Sedaris. And Carrie Fisher should lock a nod for her swan song on “Catastrophe.” Previous nominee Kristen Wiig had an entire episode »

The installment also features Mel Rodriguez (The Last Man on Earth) as an extraordinarily average man and Sarah Baker (Big Little Lies, Louie) as his spouse. »

Zach Woods Compares His ‘Silicon Valley’ Character to a ‘New England Mom,’ and Here’s Why That’s Hysterically Tragic

19 April 2017 10:01 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Think of your standard YouTube character tribute videos. Three seasons of a show like “Silicon Valley” usually get you some classic one-liners, memorable character beats and a few outtakes for good measure, all wrapped up in a few minutes.

This one for Jared, Zach Woods’ character on HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” runs the length of an entire episode of the show.

Jared has always been at the center of the “Silicon Valley” story (there he is on the Season 1 poster, in full Steve Jobs pose, literally at the side of Pied Piper co-founder Richard Hendricks), but Woods has grown to be the show’s heart too. In a world of backstabbing and self-interest, Jared has remained the show’s sole, true altruist.

“I sometimes think of it as an archetypical family,” Woods said. “Erlich is the rambunctious father, Kumail is the baby boy, Gilfoyle is the cat and Richard is like the favorite son. »
