Trailer for Indie Space Adventure Sci-Fi Movie - The Last Scout

1 November 2014 6:00 AM, PDT | GeekTyrant | See recent GeekTyrant news »

You've got to check out this trailer for an incredible looking film in development called The Last Scout. This is an independent film directed by Simon Phillips, and he made it on a shoestring budget. He is currently trying to raise funds through Indiegogo so that he can finish the VFX and other post-production work. The movie is a sci-fi space thriller, and from what I've seen in this trailer this looks like it could be an incredibly impressive movie for what they've had to work with to make it.

The story takes place in the year 2065, and earth has been destroyed after a nuclear war between the East and the West. It kind of has the same vibe as Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, as mankind is forced to leave earth to try and survive by finding a new home.

The movie stars Rita Ramnani, Peter Woodward, Simon Phillips, Rebecca Ferdinando, »

Must Watch: First Trailer for Indie Sci-Fi Space Epic 'The Last Scout'

27 October 2014 9:17 AM, PDT | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

The year 2065 - war has destroyed Earth, mankind has been forced to leave. This is a must watch trailer for an indie sci-fi that seems to be going for something similar in scope to Christopher Nolan's Interstellar, except made on a shoestring budget. The Last Scout is a sci-fi space opera epic from filmmaker Simon Phillips that we first teased last year with a dark poster. Over a year has passed and we haven't heard or seen anything about this, but out of nowhere a teaser trailer has appeared, and the filmmakers are asking for Indiegogo funds to finish VFX and other post-production work. This trailer actually looks good, despite ending on that obnoxious explosion, but I'm still interested in checking this out. As long as it gets finished. Here's the first official teaser trailer for Simon Phillips' The Last Scout, direct from Vimeo: The official synopsis from »

First Look at White Collar Hooligan 3

17 July 2014 3:11 AM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Paul Tanter’s White Collar Hooligan trilogy draws to a close with this first look at the concluding film, set against the backdrop of the World Cup.

Subtitled Revenge in Rio what the Nsfw trailer hints at is a situation spiraling out of control, with the gang following the World Cup to catch up with, and then beat up, some old friends.

Simon Phillips, Rita Ramnani and Vas Blackwood are joined by newcomer Josh Myers, who looks to be the man to end it all.

DVD Review – Dangerous Mind of a Hooligan (2014)

18 May 2014 11:30 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Dangerous Mind of a Hooligan, 2014.

Written and Directed by Greg Hall.

Starring Paul Marlon, Samuel Anoyke, Roger Griffiths, Simon Phillips and Mark Sangster.

Synopsis:

Five criminals unknown to each other are hired to complete a bank robbery. What should have been a smooth operation soon descends into paranoia, violence and horror…

Reportedly renamed to have a ‘hooligan’ element in its UK title to cash in on impending football World Cup fever (clearly someone holds the English footie fan in high esteem), this crime thriller doesn’t actually have very much to do with said beautiful game. True, lead gang member Danny (Paul Marlon) liked a bit of a kick about of the more physical variety before or after a match, but his past does not impact on the full hazily plotted yarn.

The story, such as it is, comprises of a whodunit, or more explicitly, a ‘whohiredit’, ‘it’ being a cockernee style bank job. »

‘He Who Dares’ DVD Review

Stars: Simon Phillips, Tom Knight, Zara Phythian, Christina Bellavia, Lorraine Stanley | Written by Paul Tanter, James Crow, Simon Phillips | Directed by Paul Tanter

If I was to ask you to think of action movies set in tower blocks you could probably come up with movies like Die Hard, Dredd and The Raid as being some of the most popular.  Working with these type of settings it allows the film to have a certain controlled level of action and even set the fighting at levels of hardness.  This is something that He Who Dares does, but at a low-budget and with a certain degree of British patriotism.

When the Prime Minister’s daughter is kidnapped and held hostage in an underground car park rigged to explode the S.A.S are called in to handle the situation.  Soon finding themselves trapped in the complex with resources low and men dying, the »

He Who Dares Brings Lots of Action 200' Below Ground: A Movie Review

10 April 2014 4:00 AM, PDT | 28 Days Later Analysis | See recent 28 Days Later Analysis news »

*full disclosure: an online screener of this film was provided by Studiocanal. Director: Paul Tanter. Writers: James Crow, Simon Phillips and Paul Tanter. Cast: Tom Benedict Knight, Simon Phillips, Christina Bellavia and Ewan Ross. Director Paul Tanter (Jack Falls) has reteamed with actor Simon Phillips for another action thriller. Their latest is called He Who Dares. This United Kingdom shot film focuses on the action, while the story comes across as a little simplistic. Still, it is hard to go wrong with a hostage situation, set two hundred feet below ground. Much of the action is caught with Tanter's use of quick cuts and edits, which helps amplify the violent tension onscreen. He Who Dares is a solid action film for those looking for some light entertainment. The film begins with the villain Holt (Phillips). Holt ambushes the daughter of the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom. He hustles Alice (Christina Bellavia) deep below ground, »
