- Paul Owens was born on February 7, 1924 in Salamanca, New York, USA. He died on December 26, 2003 in Woodbury, New Jersey, USA.
- General manager for Philadelphia Phillies from 1972-1984, overseeing the 1976-1978 National League East Division Champions, the 1980 World Series Champions, as well as the 1983 National League Champions, the last of which he also managed.
- Had two separate stints managing the Phillies. In 1972, he took over for Frank Lucchesi before giving way to Danny Ozark after the season. In 1983, he replaced Pat Corrales at the All-Star break, despite the fact the team was in first place. Philadelphia went on to win the National League pennant, while Owens stayed on through the 1984 season grooming John Felske to replace him. Felske took over in 1985.
- Spent 48 years in the Phillies organization in the following capacities: minor league player, minor league coach/manager, scout, farm system director, general manager, Major League manager, Assistant to the President, and Senior Adviser. He was named Senior Adviser in 1998, a postion he held until his death in 2003.
