Check out our rundown for this week’s selections below.
Arabian Nights (Miguel Gomes)
In lauding Miguel Gomes‘ three-part, six-and-a-half hour behemoth, it’s perhaps important to consider his background as a critic. Not just in terms of the trilogy’s cinephilic engagement with Rossellini, Alonso, Oliveira, etc.; also in its defiant nature. While it’s easy to assign the trilogy certain humanist and satirical labels from the get-go and just praise these films for following through on them,...

There are times people will undoubtingly question where their personal and personal lives are headed, and if they’ve made the right decisions in what they want to do with the rest of their lives. Not only has that uncertainly crept into the mind of the main character, Nathan, of the new independent comedy, ‘A Short History of Decay,’ but also the actor who played him, Bryan Greenberg. Nathan’s a struggling writer who’s understandably striving to find the area he finds the most passion in pursuing in his literary career, particularly when his parents become increasingly ill and his girlfriend ends their relationship. Greenberg relatably and genuinely drew on his own [ Read More ]

Taylor Lautner of “Twilight” fame was on Jimmy Kimmel’s talk show last night and brought along a minute-long action clip from his new movie, “Abduction” that showed the young tyke battling it out with a thug on a train. For some reason he keeps his shirt on, though, which will probably confuse some of the girls out there. Feel free to skip the rest of the interview, as listening to Kimmel interview people is like stabbing yourself in the ears with a screwdriver. For as long as he can remember, Nathan Harper (Taylor Lautner) has had the uneasy feeling that he’s living someone else’s life. When he stumbles upon an image of himself as a little boy on a missing persons website, all of Nathan’s darkest fears come true: he realizes his parents are not his own and his life is a lie, carefully fabricated to...

She's written and performed on "Saturday Night Live," had a self-titled program on Comedy Central and f**ed Matt Damon (in song, we mean, on "Jimmy Kimmel Live!"), so it's about time Sarah Silverman gets "serious" about a movie career.
Silverman follows up sporadic screen roles in "School of Rock," "Rent" and "School for Scoundrels" with "Peep World," a new dysfunctional family comedy co-starring Michael C. Hall, Rainn Wilson and Ben Schwartz. She plays one of the three siblings devastated by their younger brother's tell-all novel, which exposes many intimate family secrets, as the family gathers for their father's 70th birthday.
The comedian/actress/writer/singer/musician was sleep-deprived and frantically rushing to pack for a trip when we got her on the horn — but her sometimes stream-of-consciousness answers kept us laughing regardless.
Your character in "Peep World," Cheri, is suing her brother Nathan for libel. In real life, how litigious are you?...

Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart and Taylor Lautner all took different paths to meet the physical challenges of their roles in “New Moon” and “Eclipse” which were far more demanding than their scenes in “Twilight.” The ‘Twilight” trio are set to appear on Jimmy Kimmel on Friday (Nov. 20) and talk about working out for their roles. (See the Preview). Rob and Taylor definitely have different physiques, but the share one thing in common. They both worked out with Vancouver trainer Nathan Mellalieu. He said he and his staff worked with about 15 of ”Eclipse” cast, the latest in the “Twilight” series to be filmed in Vancouver.
