Update: Director David Yates has confirmed his withdrawal from the helm of Your Voice In My Head, which Deadline revealed yesterday. He has issued this statement: “Unfortunately, due to conflicting schedules and ongoing commitments in the narrow window I was hoping to make this film, it has become no longer possible for me to direct ‘Your Voice in My Head.’ I am sincerely sorry to be leaving such a fantastic project, and I wish producer Alison Owen and everyone involved the very best for what I am sure will be a distinctive film.” Earlier, 2:07 pm, Edt: David Yates is exiting Your Voice In My Head, the Warner Bros film that had been expected to be his next movie after completing the Harry Potter series. I’m told that Yates dropped out for personal reasons involving a family health situation. Yates was going to do the film with his Potter »

After finding huge success behind the camera with the last four Harry Potter films, director David Yates has had some trouble nailing down his first post Potter project. He was briefly attached to such high profile films as an adaptation of Steven King's The Stand as well as a possible big screen Doctor Who, but neither came to fruition. Yates then set his sights on a much smaller project, signing on to direct Emma Forrest's memoir Your Voice In My Head, a film that would have reunited him with his Potter star Emma Watson. I say Your Voice In My Head 'would have' reunited the two artists because Deadline reports that personal reasons have forced Yates to exit the proposed adaptation. Citing "a family health situation," the director will (understandably) not be able to move forward with the Warner Bros' drama about Forrest's life-saving relationship with her terminally ill psychiatrist. »

Emma Forrest penned the drama based on her memoir. The story follows a young woman (Emma Watson) who attempts suicide before being saved by a New York-based psychiatrist who’s dying of cancer.
Yates has reportedly departed for personal reasons involving a family health situation. Yates and Watson wanted to postpone, but the writers and producers didn’t want to wait. »

Unfortunate news for everyone who was excited to see Harry Potter director David Yates reunite with star Emma Watson for emotional drama Your Voice In My Head: Yates has to pull out of the project. This time around, the cause isn’t creative differences or work scheduling, but the director facing a family health situation. We wish him and his family all the best. What it means for the movie right now is unclear. According to Deadline, producer Alison Owen and studio Warner Bros. want to push ahead provided a new director can be found and assuming that the company decides the tough drama is not too much of a gamble following the loss of Yates, who brings Potter audience awareness with him.Emma Watson’s still aboard to play the lead in the film, adapted from Emma Forrest’s memoir about a young woman who attempts suicide, but »

Director David Yates took a much deserved rest following the release of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, as he had directed every Harry Potter film since The Order of the Phoenix. Late last year he settled on his first post-Potter project, a promising drama based on Emma Forrest’s memoir Your Voice in My Head. The book chronicles Forrest’s troublesome and self-harming behavior, as well as her relationship with her psychiatrist. Yates lined up Potter star Emma Watson to take on the challenging lead role, and in an inspired bit of casting Stanley Tucci entered talks to play Watson’s ailing psychiatrist. Sadly, Yates has just exited the project. Hit the jump for more. Per Deadline, Yates was forced to drop out of the film for personal reasons involving a family health situation. Apparently he really wanted to do the film, and even wished to postpone the »

Though recently pushed back from a spring to summer start, allowing Emma Watson the chance to flex some comedic muscle in Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg's directorial debut "The End Of The World," it looks like "Your Voice In My Head" is going to need a new director.
Deadline reports that the drama, which was planned as a reunion between 'Harry Potter' duo Watson and director David Yates, will now be moving along without the helmer's talents. No, it's not anything acrimonious, rather, "a family health situation" has forced Yates to leave the project, because the writers and producers apparently weren't willing to push the start back any further. It's certainly a bit of a bummer for both star and helmer, who would've been striding out of 'Potter'-land together on something quite different, but it will be interesting to see who will get lined up instead.
However, Deadline wonders »

Yates was going to reteam with his "Potter" star Emma Watson for the adaptation of Emma Forrest's memoir, in which she explores the highs and lows of love and the heartbreak of loss. Yates wanted to postpone the project, but the writers and producers didn't want to wait, the site adds. Well, we always knew that "The End Of The World," the newly titled feature adaptation of "Jay And Seth Vs. The Apocalypse" was going to be swarming with cameos, but this may be the biggest, non-Apatow gang member to join the flick (outside of Rihanna, who James Franco recently tipped).
Emma Watson continues to grow out of her Hermoine days, and has taken a part in the film as herself. Set to mark the directorial debut of producing and writing partners Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg, the concept for this one is simple: a bunch of friends and folks are stuck in James Franco's place while the apocalypse is happening outside. Rogen, Franco, Jay Baruchel, Jonah Hill, Craig Robinson, Danny McBride and Aziz Ansari are among those already slated to appear in what is a high concept, but no less potentially hilarious outing. Michael Cera is also expected to »

What does one do after directing four highly successful films in one of the biggest franchises in movie history? For David Yates, director of the last four Harry Potter movies, the answer is: sign a first-look deal with the selfsame studio. Variety reports that Yates signed the deal under the Wychwood Pictures banner. Priority for Yates at the moment is Your Voice in My Head, an adaptation of the Emma Forrest memoir that has Emma Watson and Stanley Tucci attached. Forrest is writing the screenplay for the picture, which chronicles her dealings with a failed romance after the death of her psychiatrist. »

Unlike in theater or television, writers generally get the short end of the stick in the movie business. When a film doesn't work, the script is blamed, when it does work, the director gets credit. Writers get fired, rehired, fired again, rewritten and screwed out of credit. But that's not to say that once they get the momentum behind them, a screenwriter can't become just as talked about as actors, actresses and directors around Hollywood watering holes and meeting rooms.
As such, following our picks for the potential stars and starlets on the rise, we've chosen five screenwriters who look like they're going to be in demand over the next few years. We last ran one of these nearly two years ago, and all five of our picks have gone on to big things -- Emma Forrest has David Yates and Emma Watson adapting her memoir "Your Voice In My Head »

If you watched The Hunger Games, then there’s no way you could not have noticed Stanley Tucci’s electric performance as Caesar Flickerman. Now the actor is getting ready for a new role in David Yates’ follow up to the final four Harry Potter movies. According to Variety, Tucci is in negotiations to star opposite Emma Watson in Your Voice in My Head.
The movie is an adaptation of Emma Forrest’s memoir of the same name, and follows young girl who attempts suicide after a bad breakup, only to be saved by a terminally ill psychiatrist. If talks are successful Tucci would play as the psychiatrist. According to the trade George Clooney and Tom Hanks were also being considered to star before Yates offered the role to Tucci.
But there is no denying that Stanley Tucci is an incredible actor, and I hope that he ends up signing on for the role. »

Emma Watson is nearly set to reunite with her Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows director David Yates for Warner Bros. adaptation of Emma Forrest's poignant memoir Your Voice In My Head. Here she'd portray a suicidal writer, devastated by a recent breakup, who is only pulled back from the edge of self-destruction by her therapist, who is terminally ill. Last month early reports revealed that the studio was hoping to land a major A-lister for the part of Watson's shrink, but now Oscar-nominated supporting player Stanley Tucci has entered negotiations to take on the commanding role. Now, Tucci may not have the fame of a George Clooney--who was said to be interested.but he's an incredible actor who is currently burning up screens nationwide as the garish and grandiose TV personality Caesar Flickerman in the record-breaking Hunger Games. Perhaps this exposure was enough to convince Warner Bros. »
