'The Pacific' star Rami Malek has friends in high places

5 November 2010 8:30 AM, PDT | Cineplex | See recent Cineplex news »

For so convincingly playing a war-weary antihero in the Tom Hanks/Steven Spielberg produced Emmy-winning WWII mini-series "The Pacific," Rami Malek sure does like to smile.

And with another Hanks production in the queue, not to mention a juicy role in the next Twilight flick Breaking Dawn, the 29-year-old thesp has good reason to be sporting a sizeable grin.

In Toronto to help promote the mini-series’ release on DVD and Blu-ray (see sidebar for special feature details),decked out in a checkered shirt, tie, poppy and dark trousers, Malek’s excitement and pride over his work on the critically praised show is palpable as soon as he starts talking about it.

“I went in at least five times,” he offered, referring to the grueling audition process. “From the very beginning, it was with a casting director I knew, Meg Liberman, we did ‘Medium’ together, and I went in and I »

First Image and Synopsis for the Tom Hanks Directed ‘Larry Crowne’

3 November 2010 10:00 PM, PDT | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

Obviously the first question on your mind is ‘does Larry Crowne’ have anything to do with ‘Harry Brown’?! I’m pretty sure the answer is ‘no’ but forgive me if I’m wrong!

Larry Crowne sees legendary actor, Tom Hanks step behind the camera to take the directing reigns in a movie which Hanks will also appear in alongside Julia Roberts, Rami Malek, Bryan Cranston, Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Wilmer Valderrama. The movie centres around Hank’s character, Larry Crowne who, after losing his job, reinvents himself by going back to college. At least that’s what IMdb tell us.

There’s currently a conference going on in the Us called American Film Market (Afm) where many studios are showing previews of movies and showcasing new marketing material. Collider.com are there and have snapped the first image (see below) from the movie which is out summer 2011. Scroll down to check »
