LeBron James Sells Scripted Medical Drama to NBC
LeBron James has sold his first scripted project to NBC through his SpringHill Entertainment banner, TheWrap has learned. The untitled script follows a doctor who specializes in treating the world’s top athletes. But when he is plagued by a health crisis of his own, he must consult with a sports psychologist to change his approach to medicine. NBC bought the script with a penalty commitment. James will executive produce with his partner Maverick Carter. Nicolas Falacci and Cheryl Heuton will also executive produce and will serve as writers and showrunners should the show get picked up to series. Matt O’Neill

'Walking Dead' producer, 'Veronica Mars' creator score pilots at USA

USA rolled out a pretty hefty list of new dramas in development at its upfront on Thursday (May 16) to go along with the two original comedies it's picked up.

The cable channel says it's ready to start production on "Horizon," a drama from "The Walking Dead" executive producer Gale Anne Hurd that's set in World War II. Written by Bridget Tyler ("Burn Notice"), it centers on a woman working at the FBI who stumbles on a top-secret project, code named "Horizon," that could provide answers about her husband's death. Needless to say, she also invites some trouble for herself with her investigation.

"Veronica Mars" creator Rob Thomas also has a show in the works at USA: "Blanco County," based on a series of books by Ben Rehder. It's about a retired baseball player who runs for sheriff in his small Texas hometown -- one that he's spent most of his

Red Arrow Entertainment and UK Channel 4 are teaming up with "Primeval" co-creator Adrian Hodges on a 12-part TV series based on Giles Milton's 2005 historical novel "White Gold."

Ion Acquires Crime Drama ‘Numbers’

Ion Television has closed an off-network syndication deal with CBS Television Distribution for all six seasons (118 episodes) of the CBS procedural drama Numbers. The series is set to premiere on Ion during the 2012/13 television season. “Numbers aligns perfectly with our general entertainment schedule and is a natural next step in our syndicated series expansion strategy,” said Brandon Burgess, CEO, Ion Media Networks. On Ion, Numbers joins a lineup that includes original program WWE Main Event and off-network series Flashpoint, Criminal Minds, Cold Case and Leverage. Numbers follows dedicated FBI agent Don Eppes (Rob Morrow), who recruits his mathematical-genius younger brother, Charlie (David Krumholtz), to help solve a wide range of crimes in Los Angeles.
