- Ellen is an accomplished songwriter and holds a Bachelor of Music degree from McGill University in Montreal. Formerly an award-winning opera singer, she now focuses on jazz and pop and often appears in Toronto venues singing her original "blues-infused folk-pop" tunes.
- Ellen enjoys keeping active with her "Whoodle" pup named Fozzie Bear.
She is planning to pen a book about her late dog Motown, whose companionship spanned throughout her 20s, 30s and early 40s. - On June 8, 2013, Ellen sang the American and Canadian national anthems at the longest game in the history of the Toronto Blue Jays. The Jays finally defeated the Texas Rangers 4 to 3 after 18 innings of play.
