As the series begins, a vapid blonde aspiring model named Deb Dobson (Brooke D'Orsay) is killed in a car crash. As her soul enters the gates of Heaven, she finds herself declared a self-centered "zero" by the gatekeeper, Fred (Ben Feldman). Not liking what she's heard, she presses return, hoping to get back to Earth. Deb gets her wish but doesn't end up in her own body. THR reports that Drop Dead Diva will end after the upcoming sixth season. The final 13 episodes will start airing on Sunday, March 23rd. Guests will include Rick Springfield, S. Epatha Merkerson, John Ratzenberger, Corbin Bleu, Colin Egglesfield, Virginia Williams and Jay DeMarcus.
Starring Brooke Elliott, Drop Dead Diva revolves around a self-centered model who dies and then returns to life as an attorney. Others in the cast include Margaret Cho, April Bowlby, Kate Levering, Jackson Hurst, Lex Medlin, and Justin Deeley.
Produced by Sony Pictures Television, the show was canceled when Lifetime and the studio couldn't come to a deal for season five. A few months later, the series was resurrected with a more cost-effective agreement.

After a brief cancellation a year ago, Lifetime‘s Drop Dead Diva was resurrected with a fifth-season pickup and in September received a 13-episode Season 6 renewal. Now the network has announced that the upcoming sixth season will be the series’ last. It will launch on March 23 with a two-hour premiere. Since resurrecting Diva last March, Lifetime saw both of its freshman series, Devious Maids and The Witches Of East End, perform well and earn second-season renewals. Additionally, the network just picked up two new hourlong series, Un-Real and The Lottery.
