Comic Book Reviews: DC Comics Round Up Week 08-10-2016

Scott Snyder is back on Batman in an "all –star" way! (see what I did there?) as he teams up with two fantastic artist in Veteran John Romita Jr. and upcoming superstar Declan Shalvey. How does it hold up to his previous Batman New 52 run? Well read on to see! Also we get the return of the deadliest man in the world -- Deathstroke -- which was penned by the super talented Christopher Priest.

Action Comics #961

Story:  Dan Jurgens Art: Stephen Segovia, Art Thibert

Review: Typically I don’t like it when a series keeps changing artist issue to issue, but honestly each illustrator that’s jumped on to Action Comics with Dan Jurgens has been top notch! I’m a huge fan of Tyler Kirkham and Patrick Bircher, and equally a huge fan of Stephen Segovia! And, to be fair, »

Check This Out: 'Space Story - A Bad Day' Mashup from Luc Bergeron

12 June 2016 8:28 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

"Hello, Hal. Do you read me?" This is awesome! Editor/filmmaker Luc Bergeron, also known as Zapatou, has released a mashup video featuring scenes from 25 space movies all edited together to tell one 5-minute story. It's actually quite amusing, especially once things get going. The video is titled Space Story: A Bad Day and includes footage from pretty much every great sci-fi/space movie ever made - from Star Wars to The Fifth Element to 2001: A Space Odyssey to Apollo 13 to Moon to Armageddon to Avatar to Guardians of the Galaxy and everything else. This reminds me of the Hell's Club mashup but with space movies. Enjoy! Thanks to Kottke for the tip. Edited by Luc Bergeron, also known as Zapatou. He writes: "Here is my new Mashup. 25 movies in 4 minutes. The action starts at 1.40, but you have to watch the start for understanding story." 2 March 2016 9:30 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

With the first week of March upon us it also means the beginning of major comic storylines. We are only a few weeks away from Civil War 2, DC's Rebirth, The Walking Dead climax to the Whispers story line, and Titan-Comics release of old anime favorites.  This week I have pick out some popular comics that probably wont be a surprise.  My favorite series right now is Old Man Logan with issue number 3 coming out today.  Also following the popular adult meditation through coloring DC is releasing a new version of Batman: Hush where you can color in the pages of the story.  Here is a few comics I will be picking up today.

Being Human: celebrating BBC Three originals

14 February 2016 10:30 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Next on our list of salutes to BBC Three geek favourites: Toby Whithouse's much-missed Being Human...

It started off as a joke, a silly fantasy twist on a generic sitcom premise, but Being Human somehow, against more odds than we remember years later, ended up becoming one of the defining British genre shows of the decade. It was both of its time back in the vampire-saturated late noughties and classic in the way few shows manage to be. It was lightning in a bottle, and much of its power came from just how unexpected it was.

Back in 2009, BBC Three wasn't known for quality genre drama. The BBC arm aimed at tempting the eyeballs of the notoriously difficult to engage 16-34 age bracket, the channel had been going through an identity crisis since its inception and needed something to define it as an entity in and of itself. »

'Silence of the Lambs' at 25: 'It Broke All the Rules'

12 February 2016 6:30 AM, PST | | See recent Rolling Stone news »

I was terrified at the Academy Awards," screenwriter Ted Tally says. "I can't describe how nerve-racking it is. You go in the bathrooms, and people are boozing it up, smoking, doing lines of coke. You never saw so many famous people so nervous."

Twenty-five years ago on this coming Valentine's Day, The Silence of the Lambs opened in movie theaters. An intense, gritty crime odyssey, in which an FBI cadet (Jodie Foster as Clarice Starling) hunts down a serial killer (Ted Levine as Jame "Buffalo Bill" Gumb) with the help of another, »
