James ‘Murr’ Murray interview: Impractical Jokers, Say Whaaat? & The Awakened

Matt Edwards Dec 18, 2017

We chat to Impractical Jokers' Murr about his new show Say Whaaat?, starting tonight on Comedy Central...

In Comedy Central’s new show Say Whaaat?, a panel of participants compete to win judge Jayde Adams’ favour by creating a dialogue over seemingly innocuous video footage (typically) of random strangers.

The pilot features British comedian Russell Kane along with Joe Gatto, James ‘Murr’ Murray, Brian ‘Q’ Quinn and Sal Vulcano. The latter four make up improv comedy troupe The Tenderloins, best known from the hidden camera show Impractical Jokers, which has deservedly become ludicrously popular in the UK in the last couple of years.

While Impractical Jokers trades as much on social discomfort as the group’s trademark brand of silliness, Say Whaaat? finds the group free to be as playful as they like.

The late-night host and wife Molly McNearney‘s baby boy William “Billy” John now 3 months old, had open heart surgery three days after his birth in April. And according to Kimmel in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter, his son will need two more of the procedures, but is “doing great.”

“Young Billy made his first visit to our office today. He’s juggling. He’s translating Flaubert from French into English,” jokes the star. “No — he smiles. That’s pretty much it. He

James Bond 25: five companies bidding for the rights

Simon Brew Apr 21, 2017

The theatrical rights to the next James Bond film are up to date: and they may give a clue to Daniel Craig's intentions.

Times are changing in the world of James Bond movies. Ever since Daniel Craig took on the role for the first time with Casino Royale, the movies have been theatrically distributed by Sony, with 20th Century Fox then in charge of the home entertainment releases.

We chatted to The Tenderloins and Impractical Jokers' Joe Gatto about filling stadiums, punishments and scary bikers...

There’s no way I’m attempting to interview all four of the Impractical Jokers at the same time again. Not after last time. Things got out of hand.

Improv group The Tenderloins, stars of the TV show Impractical Jokers, are returning to the UK in January 2017 for more performances of their live show. The tour is selling well and so they’ve added extra dates and are doing some press to promote them.

So when the opportunity for an interview slot came up, I decided I would specialise. Phone interviews can be tricky because of the delay, the disruption and the detachment, and I decided that if I could get just one of the Jokers, I’d end up with something more manageable and focused. And when you

‘Impractical Jokers’ Cast on Enraging Imagine Dragon Fans: There Were '60,000 Angry’ Concertgoers (Video)
Tru TV's “Impractical Jokers,” now in its fourth season, has helped create an environment of humor and fear for those who unwittingly come across the comedy troupe of Sal Vulcano, Brian Quinn, James Murray and Joe Gatto. But when they joined Greg Gilman at TheWrap's Comic-Con video lounge at the “Walking Dead Escape” in Petco Park, the joke — and the fear — was on them. Eyeing Gilman's expertly applied zombie make-up, Vulcano said tentatively, “I feel like there's a real medical emergency going on here — I keep looking at it and thinking, ‘How are you asking us questions?’ Like…” “Like...

After a few stops and starts involving failed pilots for Spike TV and A&E, the quartet found a home with truTV in 2011 when Impractical Jokers premiered. Holding Dog Poop Is Part Of The Job For Stars Of 'Impractical Jokers'
Face it: Being able to play pranks on your friends that make them look stupid in front of strangers is one of the simple joys in life.

And that's how it's been for James "Murr" Murray, who says he and Sal Vulcano, Joe Gatto, and Brian "Q" Quinn have been pranking each other since they attended Monsignor Farrell High School in Staten Island, N.Y., more than 10 years ago.

As is common among teenage boys at an all-boy high school, trying to get a laugh was sometimes more important than getting good grades. Murray says he and his pals would go to great lengths to impress each other -- even putting their snotty nostrils on each other and the teacher.

"Ever since high school, Joe's been doing this thing called 'The Nose' where he rests his nose on their body without people noticing," Murray told HuffPost Weird News. "I can
