Watch 'The Hobbit: Battle of Five Armies' R Rated Extended Fight Scenes
Back in August, Warner Bros. announced an R-rated Extended Edition of The Hobbit: The Battle of The Five Armies, which debuted on Digital HD last month and will be available on Blu-ray and DVD November 17. No details were given as to why this version was R-rated, but Youtube user Joshalots has posted a 15-minute video with new scenes from this edition, which helps illustrated why this was given the restrictive rating. There is a lot more blood and guts in this video than we saw in the theatrical edition, and we also get a new scene towards the end, which shows what happens to the cowardly Alfrid (Ryan Gage), who tried to escape the battle by dressing up as a woman.

The Hobbit Trilogy Extended Edition will also be available, featuring the extended editions of all three films in The Hobbit Trilogy - The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

Film Review: ‘Born to Dance’

Film Review: ‘Born to Dance’
Proof that Maori dancers can bust a move with the best of them, “Born to Dance” serves as an astonishing Kiwi choreography showcase, the biggest and by far more impressive of its kind to originate Down Under, as local star Tammy Davis — known in New Zealand as Munter of hit skein “Outrageous Fortune,” but more familiar abroad for bigscreen roles in “Whale Rider” and “Black Sheep” — makes his high-energy feature directing debut, following a pair of well-traveled shorts. Casting mostly real dancers and hip-hop personalities in roles that might have benefited from more acting experience, the film pits the country’s best dancers against one another for a fictive version of that title, though it’s the off-the-wall technique (from “Step Up All In” cast mate Parrish Goebel), not the boilerplate plotting, that will give this Kiwi sensation international legs.

I think I've made it clear over the last few years, that I haven't exactly been a fan of Peter Jackson's The Hobbit trilogy (for a variety of reasons). Perhaps that will be the case with Battle of the Five Armies, which hits blu-ray on November 17th, with 20 extra minutes of footage.

And yes, as rumored/revealed a little while ago, this new version is in fact rated R. Take from that what you will,

[Review] Battleship

Screenwriters Erich and Jon Hoeber actually made paying Hasbro a boatload of cash for their seemingly-unnecessary board game property a relevant story point in their big budget, science fiction actioner Battleship. The fact they had to conjure up a humanoid alien race with reptilian characteristics and cloaking technology to keep gigantic flying nautical vessels off radar is besides the point. The American public loves extra-terrestrial invasions, thinks Andy Roddick‘s wife Brooklyn Decker is hot and cannot help getting revved up when their armed forces are depicted kicking foreign ass. Even bringing a handful of grizzled veterans – actors or not, I can’t quite find a definitive answer – had the guy next to me saying he’d ‘fight alongside those OGs nine times out of ten.’ Yes, we love patriotism and director Peter Berg knows it.

A blink-and-you’ll-miss-him gunner halfway through, Berg knows how to have fun. The guy who helmed both the brilliant,

Battleship | Review

Director: Peter Berg Writers: Erich Hoeber, Jon Hoeber Starring: Taylor Kitsch, Liam Neeson, Brooklyn Decker, Alexander Skarsgard, Rihanna, Tadanobu Asano, Hamish Linklater, Peter MacNicol, John Tui, Jesse Plemons, Gregory D. Gadson, Jerry Ferrara When one considers what a film adaptation of the classic guessing game Battleship might look like, images of green radar screens, monstrous steel ships, and World War II military uniforms come to mind. Director Peter Berg's iteration pairs these expectations with some more random elements to create the desultory alien invasion action flick Battleship. Battleship takes place in an alterna-contemporary universe where a new planet with similar atmospheric conditions to earth has been discovered. Earth's attempts at communications elicit a less than desirable reaction: an attack by four Transformers-esque ships filled with ambiguously motivated humanoid aliens. At the earth's defense is a small fleet of Destroyers manned by a handful of U.S. and Japanese naval officers,

Film Review: Despite Rihanna, Peter Berg’s ‘Battleship’ Lands as One of the Best Popcorn Flicks Ever

Chicago – “Battleship” certainly could simplistically be reduced to a 131-minute propaganda piece of why you might want to enlist in the U.S. Navy – that is, if Earth had to ward off lizard-like creatures from a deep-space solar system we can only reach by slingshotting a highly amplified “What’s up, aliens?” broadcast to them.

Rating: 4.0/5.0

And “Battleship,” which is rock-concert loud and lacks in strategically placed comedy, definitely will regret going down in history as being the first to offer the already rich, famous and slutty singer Rihanna a wasted, feature-film launching pad when she – like many other musicians before her (read: Britney, Mariah, etc.) – should simply stick to singing and (pole) dancing.

Thanks to “Battleship,” Rihanna has already been cast in 2013’s “The End of the World” with Seth Rogen and may even appear in 2013’s “The Fast and the Furious 6”. (We seriously need as many “Fast and Furious
