- Edwina is both African and American, with her father's side of the family from Liberia, West Africa and her mother's side from the US. Edwina was conceived in Liberia, and her mother was forced to flee the country to escape the impending war.
- Edwina is a trained singer, fluent in Spanish, and has sung and acted in seven languages.
- While at NYU, Edwina was on the Dean's List and received the Outstanding Artist and Scholar Award, The Founder's Day Award, began an on-campus Artists Fellowship, and was inducted into the prestigious Tisch University Scholars Program. She also received the distinction of serving as Flag Bearer for her graduating class.
- During her junior and senior years at New York University, Edwina was an intern at the Joseph Papp Public Theatre and worked on the New York Shakespeare Festival productions of "Julius Caesar" and "Measure for Measure". While there, she learned from acclaimed artists, such as George C. Wolfe, Sanaa Lathan, Jeffrey Wright, Billy Crudup, Jamey Sheridan, David McCallum, Danny Pino and Mary Zimmerman.

- While at NYU, Edwina received her primary acting training at the Atlantic Theater Company Acting School.
- Currently in New York, shooting her role for an upcoming Law & Order (1990) episode, Law & Order (1990) {Anchors Away (#19.17)}_, where she plays "Detective Jasmine Burton", alongside Anthony Anderson. (February 2009)
