Corey Swanson has problems. He’s almost 30, still lives in his mom’s basement, doesn’t date, and his career amounts to slicing meat in an archaic deli that no one ever comes to – unless they want to rob it. After a chance encounter with a popular former classmate, Corey learns that his high school crush Sheena Halliday will soon be in town for their 10-year reunion. Sheena, now a world-famous athlete, has been dubbed “the Lindsay Lohan of the wrestling world”. She twists and pounds people into oblivion for a living – the same thing she did to Corey’s heart back in high school. Corey puts his broken heart (and punched face) aside,

Ricky Gervais’ Special Correspondents gets a hilarious first trailer

While Gervais is a well-known and highly respected comedian/comedic actor, Bana, too, is no stranger to making people laugh, despite landing dramatic work more often. At the start of his career, the actor appeared on an Australian sketch comedy show entitled Full Frontal, which essentially launched his career; additionally, he had a small role in 2009’s Funny People and stole nearly every scene he was in.

Later this year, Gervais’s The Office spinoff film, David Brent: Life on the Road, will be released as well. Check out new posters from the film here.

Backpackers: Season One Ratings

The new Backpackers comedy revolves around a couple of friends who are on a search -- not unlike how The CW is searching for ratings these days. Will either be successful? Will Backpackers be cancelled or will it be renewed for a second season instead? Stay tuned!

Backpackers follows Brandon (Dillon Casey) and Ryan (Noah Reid) as they travel through Europe looking for Ryan's girlfriend girlfriend Beth (Meghan Heffern). Giacomo Gianniotti plays Andrew, Brandon's slacker brother.

The ratings are typically the best indication of a show's likelihood of staying on the air. The higher the ratings (particularly the 18-49 demo), the better the chances for survival. This chart will be updated as new ratings data becomes available -- usually the next day, around 11:30am Est/8:30am Pst. Refresh to see the latest.

Grimmfest 2013 Review: ‘Home Sweet Home’

Stars: Marty Adams, Shaun Benson, Meghan Heffern, Adam MacDonald | Written and Directed by David Morlet

French director David Morlet, here billed under the anglicised David Morley, heads back behind the camera for Home Sweet Home, his first film since his feature debut (which, like this movie, he also wrote and directed), 2009′s superb zombie movie Mutants. Whilst that film didn’t reinvent the zombie genre, Morlet showed that straight zombie movies – and not just zombie comedies – can be great, outshining the majority of modern Us-lensed zombie flick and easily putting Romero’s recent work to shame.

Home Sweet Home has the simplest of plots: A young married couple comes home from a date night to discover that they are imprisoned in their own house with a methodical killer inside. That’s it. But as well all know, from small acorns do big oak trees grow – so it’s safe to

‘Old Stock’ is an appealing coming-out-of-golden-age story

Old Stock

Directed by James Genn

Written by Dane Clark

Canada, 2012

We live in a youth-obsessed culture. That much we know. We worship at the altar of infinite possibility, saying “youth must have its fling” – and we bemoan those lost opportunities to “make our mistakes”. But there’s nothing bracing or invigorating about living through a real folly of youth. One that hurts the ones we care about. Those kinds of mistakes can make people instantly old, no matter what their calendar age. Old Stock explores the consequences of two such follies: one that engulfs its title character at the end of high school, and another committed by an older man in the grip of second child(hood)ishness.

When we first meet Stock Burton (Noah Reid), he is living in a retirement home with his grandfather (Harold, played with old-time Allen Jenkins-ish charm by Danny Wells), who is

Home Sweet Home is Only Partially Inviting: A Movie Review

Director/writer: David Morlet. Cast: Marty Adams, Shaun Benson, Meghan Heffern and Adam MacDonald. This reviewer is familiar with French director David Morlet's previous work, Mutants. Mutants was an undead film set in a post-apocalyptic landscape; Mutants was an exciting film, set in a dangerous environment. Morlet's second feature and first English film, Home Sweet Home, is less exciting, however. This second feature is meant as a suspense driven thriller, but there is very little tension here. The film's pacing is obscenely slow and the story is overly simple. The film's budget is also meagre and Morlet's latest outing will only satisfy the most die-hard horror or thriller fans. The film is not really plot driven. And, the story is broken down quite easily. A couple returns to their home after "date night." Someone is waiting for them there. A masked trespasser has sealed any exits and clothed himself in disposable coveralls.
