The first teaser trailer has arrived online for ITV’s upcoming action adventure series Jekyll and Hyde starring Tom Bateman, Natalie Gumede, Richard E Grant, Donald Sumpter and Natalie Hyam. Check it out below…

Set in 1930’s London at a time of Hollywood glamour, aerodynamic cars and monster movies, the drama will pay homage to the Stevenson novel, and focus on the young, attractive, troubled hero, Robert Jekyll, the grandson of the original doctor.    At the heart of the drama is Robert Jekyll’s quest to discover his real identity, his true family history and the nature of his ‘curse’. One actor will play the lead role Jekyll transforming into Hyde in moments of extreme anger, stress and when his or the lives of others are threatened.

Jekyll and Hyde is set to premiere on ITV this Autumn.

ITV's Jekyll & Hyde is a "superhero story" with a "sexy" Mr Hyde

26 May 2015 5:59 AM, PDT | Digital Spy | See recent Digital Spy - TV news news »

ITV's new Jekyll & Hyde series has been billed as a "superhero story" - with a "sexy" Mr Hyde.

Cast and crew from the new paranormal drama attended a panel at McM London Comic Con on Saturday (May 23).

Lead writer Charlie Higson said: "It's a superhero Jekyll & Hyde - about Dr Jekyll's grandson, who doesn't know anything about who he is or why he's like he is.

"[The book is] the prototype superhero story - it's a guy with an alter ego. He can turn into someone else, nobody knows it's him and he can do all the things he dreams about, so I thought there was a lot you could do with it that was new and exciting."

Higson described the show's Hyde as "sexy", "good-looking" and "dangerous" - with Da Vinci's Demons actor Tom Bateman playing the dual-role of Hyde and his mild-mannered alter ego Jekyll.

A handful of walk-on songs have been revealed for tonight's guests at the National Television Awards.

Thierry Henry has chosen a French rap song to play as he walks on stage, which is being 'hurriedly translated' to make sure it is not explicit.

Strictly Come Dancing duo Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman will enter the stage to the suitable strains of 'Dancing Queen' by Abba.

The NTAs will be hosted by Dermot O'Leary and will feature a tribute to Coronation Street's Anne Kirkbride, who passed away Monday (January 19) aged 60.

The evening will also feature a clue in regards to the identity of Lucy Beale's killer in EastEnders.

Bates Motel & The Returned

Speaking about the latter, show runner Cartlon Cuse says that the first six episodes of the show share a lot of similarities with the original. After that point they diverge and the end of the first season is "fairly, distinctively different" from the original. [Source: The Live Feed]
