Robin Thicke has gotten very personal on his new album, "Paula," named after his estranged wife Paula Patton. And on Wednesday's "Good Morning America," the soulful crooner explained why he's put it all out there in music.

"When you lose the love of your life, you don't have much to hide anymore," he told "Gma's" Lara Spencer.

Asked about one of his songs on the new album, a cut called "Forever Love," Robin said he wanted to send Paula a hopeful message.

Why the Evening-News Anchor Is No Longer the Most Important Person on TV

25 June 2014 10:34 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Hosting the evening newscast turned  Walter Cronkite, Dan Rather and Tom Brokaw into luminaries and national statesmen. ABC News has now declared that the person who leads that national institution no longer has to be the most important face on the screen.

Sure, we expect to see David Muir, the hardworking correspondent who is set to succeed Diane Sawyer as the managing editor and anchor of ABC’s flagship “World News,” holding forth during times of great import. But ABC News made it clear Wednesday that viewers should largely expect to welcome George Stephanopoulos on the screen when disaster strikes, war breaks out, or the nation gathers in its living rooms to suss out matters of great import.

Stephanopoulos, who already sits at the head of two of ABC’s best-known newscasts – “Good Morning America” and “This Week” – is set to become “Chief Anchor” of ABC News. He will be »

'90s kids, rejoice! Ben Savage promised fans of “Boy Meets World” that the Disney Channel spinoff, the aptly titled “Girl Meets World,” will be just as great as the original. “Good Morning America” host Lara Spencer gave the once-and-again Cory Matthews the perfect setup when the cast appeared on the morning show on Tuesday. “What do you want fans of the classic 90s show to get from this new version?” Spencer asked him. “Well, a lot of the fans who watched ‘Boy Meets World,’ they kind of grew up with us and they're very protective of the show,” Savage said. »

Daytime Emmy Awards: ‘Young and the Restless,’ ‘Ellen DeGeneres,’ Steve Harvey Among Top Winners at Raucous Ceremony (Full List)

22 June 2014 2:45 PM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” and “Steve Harvey” grabbed the top talkshow wins while “The Young and the Restless” was named best drama series Sunday at the 41st annual Daytime Emmy Awards, which proved to be a raucous affair as the kudocast grappled with the transition to a streaming-only format.

A high volume of no-shows among top winners and bumpy moments underscored the unusual nature of this year’s ceremony, which was unable to land a TV deal. At times, presenters struggled with their stage instructions and the camera work was jumpy. Without the timetable and content constraints of airing live on advertiser-supported TV, winners and presenters let the salty language fly, and some winners took their sweet time with acceptance remarks on the Beverly Hilton stage.

Host Kathy Griffin (pictured) and others made light of the situation. Griffin ended the nearly two-hour ceremony by walking on stage yelling “say goodnight! »

Forget Indiana Jones! Is Robert Pattinson campaigning to star in Magic Mike 2?

ABC News has signed George Stephanopoulos to a contract extension, the last member of its Good Morning America team to agree to a new deal.

ABC News said Thursday that Stephanopoulos will remain as Robin Roberts’ chief partner on the top-rated morning show, and will continue as host on the Sunday morning show This Week. Terms were not disclosed.

Roberts also recently signed a contract extension. Good Morning America has not been entirely successful in keeping together the team that toppled NBC’s Today show: Sam Champion left for a job at The Weather Channel, and Josh Elliott is now at NBC Sports. »

Good Morning America has secured George Stephanopoulos as part of a long-term deal with ABC News that also includes his continued duties as host of the Sunday Beltway show This Week. “We are thrilled that the team is locked in and that the [Stephanopoulos] deal was done so quickly,” ABC News said this morning. That in marked contrast to the long-running storyline about the division’s talks with Gma regulars Josh Elliott and Sam Champion — both of whom wound up being poached by NBC. Elliott went to NBC Sports and Champion to NBC co-owned The Weather Channel. Lara Spencer, whose contract came up around the same time as Elliott’s and Champion’s, re-signed to Gma in March, and recently was promoted to co-anchor. Elliott and Champion were replaced by Amy Robach and Ginger Zee, respectively. Stephanopoulos’ contract was not set to expire until the end of the calendar year. But, »

'Good Morning America' promotes Lara Spencer to co-host billing

19 April 2014 4:00 PM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

New York (AP) — ABC says it has promoted Lara Spencer to co-host status on "Good Morning America." Spencer, the lifestyle anchor since returning to the show in 2011, now has billing parity with Robin Roberts and George Stephanopoulos. She was the show's national correspondent from 1999 to 2004. Then, for seven years, she was a host of "The Insider." Her promotion comes as "Gma" continues to beat NBC's "Today" show in the ratings, but after it recently lost two members of its team: Sam Champion and Josh Elliott. The other current members of the "Gma" family are Amy Robach and Ginger Zee. This week, "Gma" welcomed Michael Strahan, a co-host of the daily "Live with Kelly and Michael," as a contributor. Lara Spencer Named Third Co-Anchor of ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’

18 April 2014 10:17 AM, PDT | Variety - TV News | See recent Variety - TV News news »

Lara Spencer, the “Good Morning America” anchor who recently negotiated a new contract with ABC to stay on the program, has been elevated to the role of co-host, and will, going forward, hold forth alongside current anchors Robin Roberts and George Stephanopolous.

The move comes as “Gma,” TV’s most-watched morning program, has been in the midst of change, with two members of the on-air staff that helped the show pass NBC’s “Today” in both total viewers as well as those between 25 and 54, the demo most coveted by advertisers, departed. The show, however has seen no ebb in its ratings dominance over “Today.”

“Lara is clearly an essential ingredient in the success we have enjoyed,” said James Goldston, the newly named head of ABC News, in a statement.

Spencer is also now a veteran presence on the program, which has two new faces after the departures of meteorologist Sam Champion »
