Help The Movie Crypt to Save The Yorkies Again!

Last year Adam Green, Joe Lynch, Arwen, and many others did something incredibly cool by holding a weekend-long event as a means to Save the Yorkies! You know, those cute little four-legged things which look like Chewbacca was shrunk down to fun-size! This December they’re doing it again. “Over the weekend of December 8th, Joe, […]

No Animal Torture In Hellraiser: Judgment, Director Clarifies

Later this year, Hellraiser: Judgment will have the honor of becoming the 10th instalment in Dimension’s cult horror series, but allegations of animal cruelty have threatened to cast a shadow over the Gary J. Tunnicliffe-directed flick.

Ahead of its long-anticipated release, Tunnicliffe recently appeared on the latest episode of The Movie Crypt podcast to drum up Judgment‘s arrival, not to mention all of the brutal terrors that lie in wait – hell, one actress almost passed out because a scene was so intense.

That sequence in question reportedly involves a small dog, and while Tunnicliffe explicitly stated that the animal “doesn’t get hurt” whatsoever, a vocal minority misconstrued the director’s comments, before claiming that Hellraiser: Judgment contains scenes of animal torture. That couldn’t be further from the truth, though, according to Gary J. Tunnicliffe, who tackled those allegations in a new interview with Dread Central.

Hellraiser: Judgment Director Speaks Out: “[The Film Contains] No Animal Torture”

After the recent appearance of Hellraiser: Judgment director Gary J. Tunnicliffe on Adam Green and Joe Lynch’s Movie Crypt podcast (during which he discussed the flick), we caught up with the filmmaker to address allegations of animal torture within the as-of-yet unreleased film. “Well, as usual it’s a case of two plus two equals five,” Tunnicliffe […]

Expect Hellraiser: Judgment To Be Fluent In Scares And Gruesome Horror

When Gary J. Tunnicliffe waxes lyrical on the Hellraiser series, it’s worth standing up and taking notice.

Now on the verge of its tenth instalment, Hellraiser: Judgment, Tunnicliffe recently appeared on the latest episode of The Movie Crypt podcast (h/t Bloody Disgusting), in which the series veteran and frequent make-up artist teased some of the brutal horrors in store.

Directing from his own script, Hellraiser: Judgment is very much a passion project for Tunnicliffe, who told hosts Adam Green and Joe Lynch that he’s never had as much fun – nor has he worked so hard – during the production of Judgment. And yes, the end product will be fluent in scares and gruesome deaths.

I had the most fun on that I’ve ever had, and I’ve never worked so hard on a Hellraiser film, but we had a great time. We did two sequences where… one the actress almost passed out…

Director Teases the Brutal Horrors of ‘Hellraiser: Judgment’
We still have no idea what’s happening with Hellraiser: Judgment in terms of the release strategy, and our only real source of information about the new franchise film has been its passionate director, longtime series makeup artist Gary J. Tunnicliffe. On the latest episode of Adam Green and Joe Lynch’s The Movie Crypt podcast, Tunnicliffe didn’t reveal […]

Halloween 2017: “Why Horror?” Double Feature – Digging Up The Marrow and The Cabin In The Woods

  • DailyDead
[To get you into the spooky spirit, the Daily Dead team is spotlighting double features that we think would be fun to watch this Halloween season. Check here for more double feature recommendations and other Halloween 2017 coverage.]

As horror lovers, we tend to spend most of October drowning ourselves in our favorite movies (even more than the rest of the year), revisiting those titles that remind us of the season or which have become an annual tradition. Never is this more true than on Halloween night, when so many of us have our go-to titles without which the holiday wouldn’t be complete: “It’s not Halloween unless I watch The Exorcist,” or “It’s not Halloween unless I watch the remake of The Fog!” Some of you are weird.

I get it. I don’t have any hard and fast rules about what I watch every Halloween, but I always make it a point to watch something. And while I know many of you will turn to the original Halloween or Trick ’r Treat or even Night of the Demons, I want to offer an alternative

Halloween 2017: 11 Movies You Should Watch on Shudder

  • DailyDead
We’re in the last remaining days of October, meaning many of us will be trying to cram in as many horror movies as possible between now and Halloween. For my last round of Shudder picks this month, I thought I’d go with a much looser theme: there’s nothing that ties these titles together except that they’re really good movies I think you should watch. Some you may recognize, others may be less familiar to you. All of them are worth streaming on Shudder.

The Bride of Frankenstein (1935, dir. James Whale) It’s not officially October without the Universal Monsters, so big thanks to Shudder for adding most of the big ones to their expanding library of streaming options. There’s no wrong choice when it comes to the classics, but I’ll make the case that Universal never got better than The Bride of Frankenstein, James Whale

Halloween 2017: 31 Movies to Watch on Hulu This October

  • DailyDead
Last week, I gave you guys a few lists from Amazon and Netflix in regards to what they have to offer via their streaming services this fall. As a newbie to Hulu, I only discovered over the weekend that they, too, beyond just being an amazing resource for television programming, offer up a killer selection of genre movies that are free to stream with a standard Hulu membership.

Here’s a look at an assortment of 31 films from Hulu that I think would be great movies to stream this October. I tried to give you guys a wide variety, too, hitting various sub-genres, so hopefully there’s a little bit of something for everyone in this list.

The Faculty

As far as high school horror films go, The Faculty has remained one of my very favorites for years now. Essentially, it’s Robert Rodriguez riffing on The X-Files, and who can resist that?
