Trivia (3)

[1944-1945] One of the chief scientists of the Manhattan Project, the top-secret U.S. effort to build the first atomic bomb. As director of the Implosion Program, he was in charge of developing the "explosive lenses" needed to compress a plutonium sphere uniformly, thus causing a chain reaction.

His body was cremated, and his ashes were scattered on Cape Cod, near his summer home.
