"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" will indeed be among 2010 winter movies. Clarifying the circulating speculation about the film's possible Christmas release, 20th Century Fox and Walden Media announced that they have set the third "Narnia" film to arrive in U.S. theaters on December 10, 2010.
With the December date set, speculation is brewing that this third film is bumped to the particular date because the studios feel "Narnia" franchise is a winter material. The speculation came up seeing that "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", which was released in December 2005, grossed $291.7 million domestically, while its summer release sequel, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian", raked in only $141.2 million.
"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" has Michael Apted serving as the film's director. It will also see the return of Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley as Prince Caspian,

"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" is moving full steam ahead with the tapping of Michael Petroni. The screenwriter has been picked up to pen the next installment of "Narnia" series and to take over Richard Lagravanese, who wrote the recent draft for the C.S. Lewis novel's adaptation.
Reportedly, Petroni was chosen for the job because Fox 2000 were impressed with his works for the studio, a rewrite of the Kevin Lima-directed "Afterlife" and of the Julia Roberts-starrer "Daniel Isn't Talking". Joining "Dawn Treader" team, he will be re-teamed with Mark Johnson for whom he adapted the Australian novel "The Long Green Shore".
"The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" eyes to start its production at the end of summer for a Christmas 2010 release. It still has Michael Apted on board to direct with Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley back as Prince Caspian,

Things looked bleak for the Chronicles of Narnia franchise when third film The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was put in turnaround by Disney, the studio that released the first two instalments. But now things are moving ahead once more: 20th Century Fox picked up the film, and a new writer in the shape of Michael Petroni has been hired to redraft the script.Petroni previously wrote The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys and, er, Queen of the Damned, but has been keeping busy recently with rewrite work on Fox 2000 films like Afterlife, The Book Thief and Julia Roberts film Daniel Isn't Talking. He takes over from Richard Lagravanese, who did the most recent draft of the Narnia script. The story sees the two younger Pevensie children, Edmund (Skandar Keynes) and Lucy (Georgie Henley) return to Narnia, along with their no-good cousin Eustace, to find Prince Caspian about to embark

"Narnia" fans need not fear; the fantasy film franchise has been picked up by 20th Century Fox, a month after Disney pulled its plug.
Fox will help develop the third in the franchise, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader."
Last month, Disney abandoned the franchise, leaving Walden Media with no co-financier. Fox now comes into the picture and take Disney's place, picking up the film through its Fox Walden department.
Michael Apted is still aboard to helm. Ben Barnes, Skander Keynes and Georgie Henley will reprise their roles as Prince Caspian, Edmund and Lucy. Will Poulter, from "Son of Rambow," will join the cast as Eustace Clarence Scrubb.

There's good news for fans of raffish rodent Reepicheep: 20th Century Fox has picked up the rights to the Chronicles Of Narnia series and started work on a script for Voyage Of The Dawn Treader. We're hoping Fox can help bring the magic back to Narnia, after the gritty-yet-strangely underwhelming Prince Caspian. They'll be aided and abetted by a more adventuresome storyline, with Dawn Treader reuniting the younger Pevensies with Caspian on a seaborne quest to find Narnia's seven lost lords.Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley return, joined by Will Poulter, Son Of Rambow's biffer-in-a-beret. Poulter plays Eustace Clarence Scrubb, the Pevensies' deeply disgruntled cousin. No word yet on whether Eddie Izzard will return to voice the punchy mouse, but Michael Apted (The World Is Not Enough, Enigma) has signed on to direct. The plan is to start shooting Dawn Treader in Australia this summer once all

I think the fact The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe made $291.7 million and the sequel, Prince Caspian, only made $141.6 million is enough for me to say Disney was justified in bailing on the Narnia franchise before it became a major loser. To top it off Lion/Witch/Wardrobe was made on a budget of $180 million, which ballooned to $215 million for Caspian. So, even though the proposed budget on the third film in the franchise, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader, is said to be $140 million I still don't see it as a risk worth taking considering the farther down the Narnia line you get the more obscure the titles become when it comes to the general public. However, it appears Fox is ready to split costs with Walden Media and move forward with the third flick reports Variety. Walden and Fox are still working on the budget as well

The 20th Century Fox have stepped in to co-finance "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader", Variety reported. The news came out weeks after Disney walked away from their partnership with Walden Media in co-financing and co-producing the third installment of the "Chronicles of Narnia" series.
Fox has been said to be the most likely partner since the studio have marketed and distributed Walden movies under its Fox Walden label. Furthermore, it is noted that both Fox and Walden, which will split the film's production and P&A costs, are still working out the approval of final script as well as the shooting budget, which are reportedly much lower than the $225 million budget of "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian".
Concerning "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader" itself, this next "Narnia" movie eyes to start its production at the end of summer for a Christmas 2010 release.

Twentieth Centurty Fox has decided to develop "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Voyage of the Dawn Treader."
In December, Walt Disney announced it won't co-produce or co-finance the third installment in the "Narnia" series with Walden Media.
Now that Fox has secured the project, plans are to head into production this fall for a possible release in 2010. The studios are currently working out script and budget issues.
Fox and Walden will split costs, and according to Variety, it may take around $140 million to produce "Dawn Treader." In comparison, "The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian" cost more than $200 million to make.
"Caspian" opened last year and pulled $419 million worldwide. "The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe," the first film in the series, collected $718 million.
Other than that, not much else is known about the project at this stage. The trade said the film may shoot in Australia. Additionally, Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes

Walden Media's Chronicles of Narnia series has found a new home with 20th Century Fox. The search for a new roof started back in December when Disney decided it wouldn’t be continuing the fantasy franchise. The trades say that Fox was entitled to first crack at the series, based on the novels written by C.S. Lewis, because of the shared Fox Walden marketing and distribution label. The next film is The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader. Ben Barnes, Skandar Keynes and Georgie Henley are reprising their roles as Caspian, Edmund and Lucy, respectively. Will Poulter (Son of Rambo) is joining the cast and will portray Eustace Clarence Scrubb. The film is being directed by Michael Apted, with Mark Johnson and Andrew Adamson producing. After budget and script concerns are settled, Fox and Walden are expected to green light the film. The intention is to move the production away from Mexico.
