Inspired by true events, The Church in the Darkness by Richard Rouse III (The Suffering) and from Paranoid Productions, is a top-down action-infiltration game, entwining itself within the radical cult movements of the 1970’s. You take on the role of a law enforcement officer arriving at “Freedom Town”; to check in on your sister’s son.  However it soon becomes apparent that Freedom Town isn’t the slice of paradise as it makes itself out to be.

Both Cult Leaders have been written specifically for Ellen McLain and John Patrick Lowrie; married in real life and both are well-known for voicing GLaDOS (Portal) and the Sniper (Team Fortress 2), respectively. Both Ellen and John are also helping to compose the soundtrack, as fan’s of Portal will know Ellen’s music is certainly something to be enjoyed.

The Church in the Darkness will be released in early 2017 and will be arriving on both PC/Mac, »

Infiltrate A 70s-Inspired Cult In The Church In The Darkness

26 February 2016 3:23 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Richard Rouse III (The Suffering, Homefront) has a new project in the works, and it’s not what you’d expect. Titled The Church in the Darkness, it’s a top-down action-infiltration game in which the player must infiltrate and seemingly put an end to the devious practices of a South American cult. Part artistic experience and part 1970s cult movement inspired narrative, it’s an interesting-looking effort.

In The Church in the Darkness, gamers will take on the role of a former law enforcement officer who must stealthily make his way into South America’s Freedom Town cult, in an effort to check on his sister’s son. Of course, Freedom Town is not as it purports to be, which is something that is normally the case when it comes to such congregations.

What’s notable here is that things will change with each playthrough, including the town’s layout, »
