Red Rock, Impact tie on Sacha Bennett-Craig Fairbrass thriller

Exclusive: Craig Fairbrass to star in action-thriller Cartel.

UK finance outfit Red Rock Entertainment and actor-producer Craig Fairbrass’s (Get Lucky) Impact Entertainment are to collaborate for the third time on action-thriller Cartel, which is in development.

Outside Bet and Bonded By Blood director Sacha Bennett is due to direct the Puerto Rico-based story about a military policeman (Fairbrass) who clashes with a local cartel while investigating the murder of a priest.

The deal was negotiated by Red Rock Entertainment’s Gary Collins and Impact Entertainment’s Luke Fairbrass.

Collins said: “We are delighted to be partnering again with Impact Entertainment; working with them has been seamless and are very excited about Cartel’s International appeal.”

Red Rock and Impact previously worked on Jonnie Malachi’s psychological-thriller Breakdown, which is due to be released in the UK later this year, and Mark McQueen’s Spain and London-set heist-thriller Gunned Down, which is repped »

British action stars Craig Fairbrass and Mem Ferda are set to square up in the ultra-violent crime flick Gunned Down, which is set to be directed by Mark McQueen and is described as “classic British crime meets hard hitting cinematic swagger.”

Gunned Down takes places in the sun-kissed city of Marbella and the shadowy streets of London’s dark underworld and follows career criminal Jack Cregan (Fairbrass), who embarks on a vendetta to solve the mystery of his father’s murder and reclaim a stash of stolen heist money. Soon Cregan, his cousin Sammy and fellow gang members Eddie and Frank start to suspect that there is more to the mystery than originally thought. Award winning Actor/Producer Mem Ferda joins ‘A Punters Prayer’

Award winning Mem Ferda (A Life Of Violence,The Devil’s Double, Hyena) has signed to feature in Cypriot Indie film ‘A Punters Prayer’, the debut feature by Savvas D. Michael.

Set in Palmers Green, London, ‘A Punters Prayer’ is an intense story about a group of friends who meet habitually at the local betting office to indulge in their favorite pastime of laddish banter, lamenting about life and family, but most critically, satisfying their addiction to gambling.

Written and directed by first timer, Savvas D. Michael, it also stars; Dexter Fletcher (Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels) and Daniel Caltagirone (The Pianist).

Hot projects new to Screenbase include Joel Novoa’s sequel ID2, Adam Stephen Kelly’s thriller Kill Kane, and action film from Mark McQueen Gunned Down.Joel Novoa’s ID2

Lee Ross, Tamzin Outhwaite, Paul Popplewell, Christine Tremarco, and Linus Roache return in Joel Novoa’s sequel feature.

The film, produced by Sally Hibbin for Parallax and Patrick Cassavetti, is funded by Screen Yorkshire’s Yorkshire Content Fund.

Vincent O’Connell returns as the writer for the hooligan drama, which is currently filming in Hull.

Adam Stephen Kelly’s Kill Kane

Filming begins in April on this crime thriller, marking Adam Stephen Kelly’s feature film directorial debut.

Vinnie Jones joined the cast of the film, alongside Sean Cronin, Nicole Faraday, and Sarah Alexandra Marks.

Andrew Jones and Emily Coupland serve as producers for North Bank Entertainment, with Robert Graham executive producing. Independent Moving Pictures and Hood & Co are financing the production.

Exclusive: Mark McQueen’s heist thriller is continuing its five-week shoot in London after wrapping on location filming in Marbella, Spain.

Gunned Down has started shooting in London after wrapping its location filming in Marbella, Spain.

Impact Entertainment’s action heist thriller is directed by Mark McQueen and stars Craig Fairbrass, James Cosmo, Steven Berkoff, Nick Moran and Mem Ferda.

Worldwide sales (excluding the UK) are being handled by Cinema Management Group, who will commence sales in Cannes with a promo reel for buyers.

Producer Luke Fairbrass commented: “It’s a very powerful and hard hitting revenge thriller with that perfect blend of gripping action, realistic violence and powerful drama delivering what international buyers and genre fans the world over are after.”

This action yarn takes place in a seedy London underworld and in Spain's vibrant south.
