What Are The Women Directors Doing? Current Sci-Fi, Horror, And Fantasy You Want To Know About

6 July 2011 2:06 PM, PDT | Planet Fury | See recent Planet Fury news »

So, you normally don't hear about what women are directing in horror, sci-fi, and fantasy? That's because other assholes don't write about it. Only this asshole does. And there's a lot of new films projects you'll want to check out, if you're a real fannerd.

Aside from German-language release Lollipop Monster by Franziska Riemann and Larysa Kondracki's thriller in mainstream theaters, The Whistleblower, there's a bunch of shit to check out this summer.

Also in theaters is director/writer Miranda July's fantasy film The Future (see our review) opening on August 5th, 2011. This is July's second feature as director, the first being Me and You and Everyone We Know, which everyone who loves arty movies said was amazing. There's a talking cat and romance and a goregous beauty to The Future. Watch the stunning trailer:

At the end of August, 2011, FrightFest UK in London is screening Emily Hagin's »

Tmp Interviews: Matt & Letia Clouston of Broken Toy (Part 2)

18 April 2011 10:01 PM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

It’s that time, again.  If you did not catch the first part of the conversation, shame on you!  TheMoviePool presents the second portion of a two part interview with two of the talented Forewarned Films staff: Matt and Letia Clouston of the webseries Broken Toy.

Tmp: There are many scenes with some awesome VFX in the series, so far, and I was wondering if you would be willing to share how you pulled these off. For instance, how did you create the blurred speed effect?

Mc: We started off with traditional animation, working frame by frame and then putting it back together and watching what worked. With Episode 1, I had finished all but the “salt shaker” scene. It was the last effect for the episode and was, really, just a throw away shot, so I tried a new tact with the effect.

Tmp Interviews: Matt & Letia Clouston of Broken Toy (Part 1)

6 April 2011 10:59 AM, PDT | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

TheMoviePool is about all things film related whether it is a short Indie film or a major motion picture production.  We like to give everyone a chance to shine, and this next interview certainly involves a group with loads to show off.  The pictures alone are enough to intrigue one into a viewing!  Check out our interview with Matt and Letia Clouston of Forewarned Films, an independent film production company, as we discuss their latest project: A web series of short films titled Broken Toy about a military experiment to create a super soldier gone terribly wrong.

Tmp: I recently watched the first four episodes of the series and just have to say way to go on some great filming.  The first thing I have to ask, to let the audience know just who we’re speaking with, is what role(s) do you play in the filming process of these episodes? »
