A former contestant on Mexico's version of "The Voice," Gibran David Martiz Diaz, was found dead in Veracruz, Mexico on Saturday (Jan. 18). He had been kidnapped and murdered.
Found together with a deceased and unidentified minor, Martiz Diaz had been missing since Jan. 7, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The singer was reported as kidnapped from his Veracruz home on that day when gunmen dressed as policemen invaded.
Although police said that Martiz Diaz and the other victim were dead beforehand, the bodies were only found following a gunfight between law enforcement and the kidnappers. The suspected kidnappers did not survive the incident.
Called "La Voz Mexico" in Spanish, the show has faced tragedy before. In addition to the death of Martiz Diaz, a contestant on the show's third season, one of the Season 2 coaches -- singer Jenni Rivera -- died in a plane crash in December 2012.

Mun2 has high hopes that “Los Vargas” can become a Latin flavored, PG-rated spin on “The Osbournes.” Vargas has a high profile in the Latino community and his story of becoming a three-time world boxing champ after a wayward youth is well known.
