When it comes to judging sexy living dead girls, who better to do it than one of the subgenre's original shamblers, John Russo? And he'll be doing just that at the next Con Nooga in Chattanooga, Tennessee!

From the Press Release

BioGamer Girl is proud to announce that one of the judges for the next Ms. BioGamer Girl pageant will be no other than legendary filmmaker John A. Russo. Sponsored by BioGamer Girl Magazine, Ms. BioGamer Girl replaced the former Ms. Con Nooga beauty pageant. The event is to take place once again in 2013 in Chattanooga, Tennessee.

Born in 1939 and often referred to as Jack Russo or John Russo, John A. Russo has worked in the film industry for over 40 years with one of his biggest credits to fame also being one of his first. Alter Egos (2012) Teaser Trailer: Jordan Galland, Kris Lemche

16 January 2012 4:48 PM, PST | Film-Book | See recent Film-Book news »

Alter Egos Trailer. Jordan Galland‘s Alter Egos (2012) teaser trailer stars Kris Lemche, Brooke Nevin, Joey Kern, and Danny Masterson. Alter Egos’ plot synopsis: “At a time when superheroes have lost government funding and public support, a superhero meets a girl who can help him overcome his own emotional crisis.”

This film reminds me of Vs but without the edge. I can’t believe the main hero’s name is Fridge. That is almost as stupid as Splash Down from The Incredibles.

My favorite part of the Alter Egos teaser trailer:

You’ve got some nerve. Breaking up with me in an email. Who do you think you are? Batman?

So funny. His girlfriend was cheating on him with himself…his alter ego.

Alter Egos also stars Christine Evangelista, John Ventimiglia, Adam LeFevre, Kristina Klebe, Sean Lennon, Geneva Carr, Marina Squerciati, Carmen Goodine, Daniel Sauli, and Carlos Velazquez.

Review: Chillerama (Blu-ray)

10 January 2012 3:04 PM, PST | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

It’s the last night for the Kaufman Drive-In and a quartet of rare horror and exploitation movies are on the bill. Directed and written by Adam Rifkin, Adam Green, Tim Sullivan and Joe Lynch, Chillerama is an ode to a bygone era where you could pile all of your friends into a car and catch a bunch of movies cheaper than you can probably watch a single movie now.

I am not the biggest fan of horror-comedies, because so few of them get it right in my eyes. And yes, horror and humor can go wonderfully together, but it’s a very delicate balance. This movie however is more of a lowbrow comedy with a lot of body fluids thrown around… a lot. Anthology movies are always a hard sell, and Chillerama doesn’t do the genre any major favors.

The film’s opening is in black and white. »
