Actors Atul Srivastava and Alka Kaushal have been roped in for comedy drama series "Mannphodganj".
Sameer Nair-led Applause Entertainment, the content studio of the Aditya Birla Group, along with DJ's A Creative Unit is working on the series which is an adaptation of the book "Band Baaja Boys" by Rachna Singh, read a statement.
The story revolves around a 22-year-old girl Binny Bajpai, to be played by model Pranati Rai Prakash, who challenges the customs and traditions in Mannphodganj.?
Vikas Chandra is directing the series from a screenplay by Amitosh Nagpal. It also stars Anurag Sinha, Farmaan Khan, Abhinav Anand, Kritika, Aru Krishank and Samar Vermani.
"'Mannphodganj' is a light-hearted comedy. I always wanted to direct a show which the audience can relate to... I am thrilled to work with such outstanding cast and can't wait to for the audiences to watch it," Chandra said.

July 2, 2010: Deeya Singh, the dynamic and passionate lady producer of the small screen needs no special introduction. Her journey in the television arena as a producer started with the inception of Satellite Channel. In 2003 she had optimistically pronounced ‘Banegi Apni Baat’ (Her first Television show on Zee TV) and in 2010 she joyfully declares ‘Baat Hamari Pakki Hai’ (Her latest show on Sony TV). Well! The channel was supposed to launch ‘Ganga’ and ‘Aisa Karo Na Vida’ from early next month, but plan seems to have undergone a change.
According to some sections of media, Colors was to air ‘Ganga’ on 1st February onwards, but it had not yet finalized the date. It had given 1st February as a tentative date and the slot of 1 pm or 1:30 pm.
Also, the channel may launch Tony and Deeya Singh’s ‘Aisa Karo Na Vida’ and give it a slot of either 1:30 pm or 2 pm. As per the grapevine.
