Hrithik Roshan supports casting of Salman Khan in Shuddhi

Hrithik Roshan has said that he is glad that director Karan Malhotra has roped in Salman Khan for the lead role in the much-talked about film Shuddhi. The 40 year old actor was initially cast for the male lead in the Dharma Production film but various delays and date issues resulted in negotiations collapsing. Kareena Kapoor was also taken on for the female lead; who then walked out from the project due to the delays.

Akshay Kumar to Star in Lionsgate, Endemol Indian Remake ‘Warrior’

London — Top Bollywood actor, Akshay Kumar will headline “Brothers”, the Hindi-language remake of Gavin O’Connor’s 2011 contact sports drama “Warrior” that starred Nick Nolte, Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton.

Indian powerhouse Dharma Productions, one of the producers of “The Lunchbox”, has boarded the project as co-producer.

Karan Malhotra, director of Dharma hit “Agneepath” starring Hrithik Roshan will direct.

The film was previously announced as a co-production between Lionsgate and Endemol India, itself a 51:49 joint venture between Endemol Bv and The Chernin Group’s CA Media, to be produced under the banner Eyedentity Motion Pictures, Endemol India’s film arm.

Dharma is headed by Karan Johar, writer, co-producer and director of Shah Rukh Khan vehicle “My Name is Khan”, and who is also a judge on “Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa”, the Indian version of the “Strictly Come Dancing” format, and popular chat show “Koffee with Karan”.

Warrior remake starring Akshay Kumar Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez titled as Brothers

A while back, it was reported that the 2011 Hollywood film Warrior featuring Tom Hardy, Sean McAnallen, Joel Edgerton, Jennifer Morrison, Frank Grillo and Nick Nolte would soon be remade in Bollywood. The said remake would feature Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jackie Shroff and Jacqueline Fernandez.

Now we hear that the film has since been renamed to Brothers. Tweeting about the same, Karan Johar, whose Dharma Production will be co-producing the film with Lionsgate and Endemol India, posted, "Dharma Productions, Lionsgate, Endemol India present 'Brothers' directed by Karan Malhotra and starring Akshay Kumar, Sidharth Malhotra, Jacqueline Fernandez and Jackie Shroff. Releasing Oct 2nd, 2015."

Simultaneously, lead star Akshay Kumar who will be seen playing the role originally played by Tom Hardy posted on Facebook saying, "My first association with Karan Johar. Brothers..."

Salman Khan signs Karan Johars Shhuddhi

A while back the media was abuzz with rumours that Salman Khan had been approached for Karan Johar's production Shhuddhi. The rumours that surfaced after Hrithik Roshan opted out of the film have finally been confirmed. It is learnt that Salman will be featured as the main lead in the film directed by Karan Malhotra. Earlier after Hrithik's exit from the film, reports stated that the said role had even been offered to Ranveer Singh and even Aamir Khan. Its common knowledge by now that Akshay Kumar and Sidharth Malhotra will soon be seen essaying the roles of Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton respectively in the remake of the 2011 film Warrior. Now we hear that Jackie Shroff has been roped in to essay the role of the sibling's alcoholic father, originally played by Nick Nolte for which the actor even won an Oscar. Karan Johar’s Shuddhi seems to have been jinxed from the beginning. After Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan were finalized as the lead couple, the actor of Krrish had to quit the project due to health issues. Soon afterwards, the actress also abandoned the film; rumours say she had some differences with the filmmakers.

Reports that Karan Johar, the long-standing Shah Rukh Khan loyalist has signed Shah Rukh Khan's bete noire and arch-rival Salman Khan to star in Shuddhi, a film that Karan Johar's Dharma Productions has been trying to put together for the last one year, are premature if not entirely false. Ranveer replaces Hrithik in Shuddhi

Just yesterday there was news that Deepika Padukone had been roped in to play the female lead in Karan Johar's film Shuddhi. Now we hear that Hrithik Roshan, who was earlier to play the lead actor, will be replaced by Ranveer Singh.

Apparently both, producer Karan Johar and director Karan Malhotra, will be meeting Ranveer to discuss the finer details of the role in the film. However, this meeting is expected to happen once Ranveer, who is currently shooting for Shaad Ali's next in Delhi, is back in the city.

While sources close to the project have confirmed this development, an official announcement of the same is awaited. »

Mumbai, Feb 28: Filmmaker Karan Johar has shot down rumours of "Ram-leela" pair Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone playing the lead roles in his "Shuddhi".

Karan Malhotra will wield the megaphone for "Shuddhi" to be produced by Karan.

When asked whether he has finalised Deepika and Ranveer for "Shuddhi", Karan said: "No."

Earlier, Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor were finalised for "Shuddhi", but recently the former made an announcement that he is not doing the film.

Mumbai, Feb 19: Karan Johar's "Shuddhi", which has recently been in the news for its change of cast, will be releasing Dec 25 next year.

The filmmaker took to Twitter to announce the news.

"'Shuddhi' will release on Friday the 25th of December, 2015... the lead cast will be announced shortly," Karan posted on the microblogging website Wednesday.

Actor Hrithik Roshan recently pulled out of the film, which will be directed by Karan Malhotra.

The film was initially supposed to star Hrithik along with Kareena Kapoor.

Deepika Padukone would do Shuddhi if offered to her

Deepika Padukone has stated that she would sign up for Karan Johar’s much talked about project Shuddhi if she was approached for the female lead. Shuddhi initially had Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor Khan signed up for the roles. However, Hrithik has been forced to opt out due to illness and it is not clear whether Kareena will still be a part of the film. After months of speculations and rumors, Hrithik Roshan has declared in a statement that he has bowed out from Karan Johar’s ambitious project, Shuddhi.

Hrithik’s official statement said, “Karan Malhotra and I have decided to unite in the most ambitious way post Shuddhi. For now, I cannot allow a vision like Shuddhi to stagnate any further. I had the finest experience as an actor can have working with Karan M in Agneepath and I’m sure both my dear Karans (Johar and Malhotra) are going to go beyond with this one! Shuddhi remains a part of me in spirit and I’m sure it will be a landmark in our cinema. I wish them all the best!”

Mumbai, Feb 10: Actor Hrithik Roshan will not be part of Karan Malhotra's "Shuddhi". However, he says he has decided to unite with the filmmaker for another film.

Mumbai, Jan 22: Actress Kareena Kapoor is not sure about the status of "Shuddhi" and says she will now "decide whether to do it" depending on "my mood".

Karan Johar's production "Shuddhi", to be directed by Karan Malhotra, features Hrithik Roshan in the lead role. But the movie has been delayed.

At an event for a tea brand, when Kareena was asked about doing the film when it goes on the floors, she said: "I will decide whether to do it. It will depend on my mood at that time."
