Samantha Lockwood grew up in La Quinta and Los Angeles, CA.

In her youth she began absorbing the acting craft from her parents, her father, veteran sci-fi icon Gary Lockwood in 2001: A Space Odyssey and her mother, successful actress and entrepreneur, Denise DuBarry.

At age 16, Samantha began her career studying the fundamentals of acting at the Aaron Speiser Acting Studio. She also attended UC Santa Cruz where she enjoyed studying Theater Acting and Marine Biology. Further acting studies included voice and accent training with Robert Eastmam, as well as improve, commercial, and cold reading workshops with Carolyn Barry, Lesly Kahn, and her current acting teacher Joseph Pearlman who coached her for Shoot the Hero!.

She has been featured as an upcoming actress in Esquire's 'Me in My Place' photo series, and in her yoga inspired action shoot for Maxim UK. Samantha has done commercial work for Apple, Old Navy, Swimways, and the Miller Light "Skinny Jeans" spot. Past work includes the leading lady in the Lionsgate western Return of the Outlaws, a pill popping teen in CSI: New York's episode "Manhattan Manhunt" also featured as Topper's girlfriend in Lords of Dogtown. Samantha received positive reviews for her lead role as Kate in Shoot the Hero! by Christian Sesma, in which she starred alongside Jason Mewes and Danny Trejo. The film was released through Warner Brothers and also picked up by SHOWTIME.

Her father actor Gary Lockwood changed his name from John Gary Yurosek for the screen. He took on the last name Lockwood after he got his first job as an actor by director Joshua Logan Lockwood. Gary thought no one would be able to pronounce his maiden name when listed in the credits, that's why the name was changed. Samantha is now coincidentally dear friends with Joshua Logan Lockwood's descendant Billy Lockwood, also an actor, and currently filming Wild Hogs (2007) starring John Travolta.
