Wme Spans The Globe, Signs Three Top Offshore Helmers At Cannes

Exclusive: Wme came back from Cannes with a trio of offshore directing talents, as the agency signed Jorge Dorado, Erik Skjoldbjaerg, and Mikkel Norgaard. Dorado made his feature directing debut with the psychological thriller Mindscape for Studio Canal starring Mark Strong, Brian Cox and Taissa Farmiga and produced by Jaume Collet-Sera. The film is slated for a fall 2013 release. Warner Bros is distributing foreign and domestic will be sold shortly. Dorado has directed many award-winning shorts including La Guerra, which won 47 awards at festivals around the world. He has also been assistant director on more than 20 films by the likes of Pedro Almodovar, Baz Luhrmann, and Guillermo del Toro. He is managed by Tom Drumm. Norgaard is the director of Klown, the 2012 pic that became the highest-grossing Danish film of all time. He is currently in post on Keeper Of Lost Causes, a film that screened in Cannes for distributors. »

Charlize Theron To Star And Produce Film Adaptation Of Gillian Flynn’s Novel Dark Places

Academy Award winning actress Charlize Theron (Snow White And The Huntsmen, Prometheus, Monster) will star in and produce the film adaptation of Gillian Flynn’s best-selling novel Dark Places to be written and directed by Gilles Paquet-Brenner (Sarah’S Key), it was announced today by Exclusive Media’s Co-Chairmen Nigel Sinclair and Guy East.

Exclusive Media’s Guy East and Nigel Sinclair will produce and fully finance the film alongside Theron’s production company Denver and Delilah Productions with partners Beth Kono and Aj Dix; Stephane Marsil’s Hugo Productions and Mandalay Vision’s Matthew Rhodes. Tobin Armbrust and Alex Brunner of Exclusive Media will executive produce with Peter Safran, and Mandalay’s Cathy Schulman will also produce in some capacity.

Exclusive: After a decade, Tom Drumm has parted ways with Peter Safran. He is forming Think Tank Management and Production, a new shingle where he’ll rep clients and hatch movies and TV. When Safran left Brillstein-Grey to form The Safran Company in 2006, Drumm followed him. “Peter has been an amazing mentor, and he has given me a great head start in building my business, and creating my own company,” Drumm said. “I look forward to continuing to work with him as a producer,” said Drumm. Safran produced five films last year, including the James Wan-directed The Conjuring, the Paul Walker-starrer Hours, and the Mark Strong-starrer Mindscape. Drumm’s clients Guy Holmes wrote the script, and Jorge Dorado directed it. “It has been a pleasure working closely with Tom over the past decade and I look forward continuing to collaborate with him in the future,” Safran said. »
